Skydiving in Dubai: Everything you need to know

Are you planning a trip to Dubai and looking for a bold and daring activity that offers the best views of the city? Why not pay a visit to Skydive Dubai, the region’s premier skydiving experience?

No matter where in the world you are, skydiving is a thrill. The exhilarating feeling of leaping from a plane and free falling to the ground just can’t be beat. Skydiving in Dubai is an unforgettable experience, whether you’re free falling over the Dubai Desert or taking in the views of Palm Jumeirah Island. Keep reading if you would like to find out everything you need to know for a great Dubai skydiving experience.

What should I expect when skydiving in Dubai?

Whether it’s your first time skydiving or your 50th, you can except your Dubai skydiving experience to be fun, exhilarating, and tailored to your unique ability levels.

First-timers and any non-licensed skydivers should plan for a tandem skydive. This means that you will be harnessed to an experienced skydiver who will drop with you.

Don’t worry about bringing your camera with you – photography and professionally edited videography will be included as part of your skydiving package. You can simply enjoy the thrill of the moment, and afterwards you’ll get the photos and videos documenting your unforgettable experience.

How much time does a Dubai Skydiving experience take?

The drop itself will only take a few moments from plane jump to ground landing. You can expect to spend about 60 seconds in free-fall. After that, your parachute will deploy, and you will float to the ground for about 5 minutes more.

You should also plan to spend at least 20-30 minutes speaking with your skydiving instructor before you even board the plane. Your instructor will give you an important safety briefing as well as an explanation of the entire skydiving process. Then it’s time to harness up and board the aircraft.

Once you’re in the plane, the ascent can also take around 20 minutes. Take this time to enjoy the views from below. While in the plane, your instructor will double-check to make sure that you’re safely harnessed in and ready to jump.

All in all, you can expect the experience to take about an hour (not including transport time to the skydive site or registration time onsite).

Where should I go skydiving in Dubai?

You can pick from two main locations to skydive in Dubai. The Palm Drop Zone is the main location, located within the city limits of Dubai. Skydivers get stunning views of the iconic Palm Jumeirah Island, Dubai’s famous man-made islands that are shaped like a palm tree.

If you don’t mind venturing a bit out of the city, Desert Drop Zone is Skydive Dubai’s other location. It’s situated about 35 kilometers (almost 22 miles) outside of Dubai. Skydive jumps at this drop zone will give skydivers stunning views of the impressive dunes in Dubai Desert.

How should I prepare for skydiving in Dubai?

To make sure you get a spot, reserve your skydive in advance. Make sure you bring your photo ID with you on the day of the jump and dress comfortably, in flexible athletic clothes and shoes (no sandals).

Certain medical conditions (including epilepsy, high blood pressure, and diabetes) require you to bring in a “Declaration of Fitness” form with a doctor’s signature. Be sure to check the specifications of your dive site ahead of time, so that you can arrive prepared. Also, keep in mind that for safety purposes, all skydivers must meet certain weight and BMI requirements. These are necessary to participate in a tandem skydive (190 pounds or less for women, 220 pounds or less for men).

Eat something light and healthy before your jump, but don’t overdo it. Skydiving on an empty stomach won’t be enjoyable, as low blood sugar can make you feel a bit light-headed and woozy. However, you don’t want to overeat and feel too full or bloated either. Moderation is key, so make sure that you eat something that will make you feel good.

Finally, be sure to rest up and get a good night’s sleep before skydiving. You’ll want to show up fresh and alert in order to fully enjoy your Dubai skydiving experience. We’re sure it will be the experience of a lifetime.
