Epirus: Easy Rafting Experience on the Voidomatis River

Epirus: Easy Rafting Experience on the Voidomatis River

Drive to Trekking Hellas rafting base in Klidonia, on the main road from Aristi village to Papingo village. There, the rafting team will welcome at 10:00am and provide you with the necessary safety equipment. When ready, a minibus will transfer you to the starting location, the bridge of Aristi-Papigo. During the transfer you will have impressive views of Mt. Tymphi, Astraka towers and Papigo villages. A safety briefing will follow, some river practice and off you go! During the descent, you will stop for optional refreshing dives in Voidomatis' crystal clear waters and visit the deserted 16th-century Agioi Anargyroi monastery. On the final part of the experience, you will paddle under Klidonia stone bridge's artificial waterfalls. The descent finishes shortly after Klidonia’s bridge just below Trekking Hellas rafting base. One thing is certain; by the time you reach the end, at approximately 13:00pm, you’ll wish you could start all over again!

Meteora Monasteries Tour from Athens

Meteora Monasteries Tour from Athens

Your private tour will start from your hotel in Athens and head to the central mainland of Greece. The first stop is the battlefield of Thermopylae and the "Hot Gates" named after the hot springs there. Here is where King Leonidas and 300 brave Spartans gave their lives for the freedom of Greece.  Pass by Trikala, Karditsa, Kalambaka and Kastraki, before finally reaching the Meteora monasteries. They come second in religious importance and size after Mount Athos in orthodox Christianity. Meteora means "middle of the sky", and the monasteries are built on high pillars at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly, near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains. There are still monks and nuns inhabiting them today. You will visit up to 3 monasteries, depending on what time allows before having a memorable Greek lunch. You'll eat at a traditional tavern in Kalambaka or Kastraki where you'll have plenty of choice of Greek dishes to choose from.

From Thessaloniki: Private Road Trip to Meteora & Kalambaka

Meteora is by far the most popular destination when someone visits the city of Thessaloniki and we can not disagree about it!IThis type of rock formation and weathering process has happened in many other places locally and throughout the world, but what makes Meteora's appearance special is the uniformity of the sedimentary rock constituents deposited over millions of years leaving few signs of vertical layering, and the localised abrupt vertical weathering,Meteora was added to the Unesco World Heritage list in 1988,because of the outstanding and of this world architecture and this unique type of beauty of the complex in addition to the religious and artsy significance. This unique breathtaking view had, have and will always have peoples breath taken, enter the Monasteries by taking a few steps, visit the inside of it and take look how beautiful and well organised it is!Enjoy the scenery up and close from the Rocks! Enjoy your meal at the traditional village of Kalabaka which is located exactly down from the Monasteries, where you can actually capture some beautiful images of the Monasteries and rocks even closer and personal! Do not hesitate as well to buy if you want something from the area,it's up to you!

Very much recommend as an activity! Especially if you have kids! The river is cold so be prepared for 9 degrees Celsius but on a hot summer day it is refreshing. We did a stop at the springs and were able to get in a swim as well. Thank you to our guide as well that took the time to talk to us and explain little facts about the river and surroundings! Highly recommend!

Unforgettable experience, very well organized and with excellent instructors! Thank you Vassilis, Vangelis and Kostis! We did the excursion at the beginning of September and enjoyed the calmness of the river on this route since there were not enough people! On our next visit to Epirus we would happily repeat it!

It was incredible. Perfect amount of hard work with lots of moments of pure relaxation and some excitement. The whole family loved it and felt safe with our guide. The pictures don’t capture how magical the experience is.

Great experience. Very nice activity. Well organised. Good experience for children. Nice welcoming stuff.

Great activity for families to bond and enjoy nature. Our guide was very informative and polite.
