San Francisco: Luxury Small-Group Wine Tour of Napa Valley

San Francisco: Luxury Small-Group Wine Tour of Napa Valley

On this Napa Valley wine tasting tour from San Francisco, be delighted with the history, architecture, gardens, and memorable toasts. Your wine enthusiast guide will prepare you for touring and tasting reserve wines at the Castello di Amorosa and two other celebrated Napa Valley wineries. Your San Francisco wine tour to Napa Valley begins enjoying the views from the Bay Bridge. As you travel, learn how Napa’s microclimates and soil types combine to produce the world’s best winemaking grapes – Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. First Tasting. Corks pop first at Castello di Amorosa, a medieval-styled Tuscan castle winery constructed with authentic 13th-century European materials and furnishings. On your way to vaulted wine cellars, check out the moat, drawbridge, towers, courtyards, and armory. Thankfully, Castello di Amorosa puts the same love and attention into its elegant, intensely flavored, and well-balanced wines. Next, your Napa wine tasting tour makes a fun photo stop at the Napa Valley Welcome Sign. Your lunch break is in charming Calistoga, California. Among its hot springs, elegant spas and yoga studios, you’ll have no trouble finding the perfect lunch spot and perhaps sampling another locally crafted wine with your meal. Second Tasting. Experience the charm of V. Sattui Winery, established in 1885 by Vittorio Sattui. Enjoy an elevated seated tasting led by expert staff at this family-run winery. Brooks Painter, a nationally renowned winemaker, skillfully blends tradition and innovation to craft award-winning wines, often scoring above 90 points. Dive into a world of exceptional wines and rich history, all in the welcoming atmosphere of this celebrated winery. Third Tasting. Discover the essence of Carneros AVA at a property once nurtured by the Michael Mondavi Family Estate, nestled among undulating hills of vineyards. Ru Vango, meaning "Road to Art," aptly describes the winery, whose tasting salon is adorned with exquisite Winn Slavin Fine Art. Relax on the wrap-around porch with panoramic views of sun-drenched vines, and indulge in a reserve flight of three complex wines. These selections are crafted from grapes cultivated at 2000 feet above sea level, caressed by the cool breezes of San Pablo Bay, promising a memorable tasting experience. On the journey back to San Francisco, we’ll make one last stop (weather permitting) at a scenic lookout point with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge so you can capture some keepsake photos of the San Francisco skyline.

The entire day was wonderful. Ben did an excellent job explaining what to expect at each stop. He was knowledgeable and considerate and did a very good job. Our trip to Muir Woods was the right amount of time. The Mayo, Ru Vango, and Jacuzzi wineries were memorable and each guide at those sites did a great job. Walking into the vineyard and tasting the grapes right off the vines was a cool experience. The final stop was a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. Unlike other tours, we wish that Ben would have taken several group photographs. That would have been a nice touch. Otherwise, everything else was perfect. Thank you, Ben!

The whole experience was lovely. Fred, our driver, picked us up from our hotel at 9am as requested. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable, using every opportunity to provide information along the way. He picked 2 vineyards for us, we had a private tasting session at Caymus and another glass of wine at Rombauer, which had the nicest view. We also stopped in Yountville on the way up so we could sample pastries from Bouchon Bakery and we were dropped back off in Sausalito, where Fred recommended a restaurant to finish the day. We got back to San Francisco via ferry, enjoying views of the bay and Blue Angels squad display. Would highly recommend!

Chris was very caring and knowledgeable. His wife personally made our picnic lunch and it was fantastic. Chris gave us several options on wineries and none disappointed. Highly recommended!
