After meeting for this tour we listened to some information about Bulgaria's history and then walked to a local bakery. We stood outside an tasted some local drinks and a pastry. After that we continued to walk around the city and learn about the Bulgarian culture. We visited a doll museum and had the lesson about Cyrillic and then right next door we practiced the dancing. Then went to a tea shop and tasted rose tea and jam. It was very fun to learn about and participate in the local traditions. Also, we finished in time to go back to the meeting place and attend the free walking tour of the sites offered by the same company. It's definitely worth the time and money.

Going on this tour is the best decision I've done during my trip to Sofia. Nikola is extremely knowledgeable, and his passion in letting foreigners understand more about Bulgaria's socialist past is unparalleled. I have absolutely nothing to complain about the tour. I now know about more how ordinary Bulgarians lived through that era and why (the reasons are complex to be sure) communist rule collapsed toward the end of the 1980s. I highly recommend it to all history buffs and travelers interested in the economic, political, and social transformations of twentieth-century Bulgaria.

This was a brilliant tour which provided fascinating insights into the urban canvas and street art of Sofia. We went with our boys (10 and 12) who also enjoyed it. Stella was passionate and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend it.

Martin was an exceptional tour guide who managed to talk about communism in an unbiased way. Even though it was awfully cold, those 3,5 hours went by quickly. I feel that I learned a lot from this tour. Thank you!

We experienced how traditions are preserved in daily life, tried different drinks and food, and went to see some new cultural venues held by the youth which we shall not know if not joining the tour. Wonderful.
