Naples Gay Tour

10. Naples Gay Tour

We will first look at Borgo Marinari, once a craggy village where – according to legend – the heartbroken mermaid Parthenope ran aground after failing to seduce Ulysses with her mermaid song. It is also the place where the Greeks settled for the first time in the 7th century BC, calling the island Megaride: The Egg Castle was built right on top of this peninsula! Walking along via Chiaia, we will see with our own eyes where the first Pizza was made, we will understand its history and we will rejoice in the magnificent Piazza del Plebiscito, admiring the Royal Palace and the San Carlo Theater. Let yourself be amazed at the Galleria Umberto I, just as you discover the life of the LGBTQ artists who lived in this ancient capital, and touch love first-hand, in the Spanish Quarters, just before walking along via Toledo, the main Neapolitan shopping artery. Stroll around the Decumani area, accessing it through Spaccanapoli and continuing on Via San Gregorio Armeno, the "alley" of the nativity scenes. Explore Naples' Old Town and the secrets behind this ancient Greek city that somehow became Christian (or just thought it did?!). Our walk will end in Piazza Bellini, where you will have free time in this super lively place, where you can find a multitude of gay friendly restaurants, cafes and bars: welcome to the heart of the Lgbtq+ nightlife of the old Parthenope!

What people are saying about Mergellina

There are tour guides, there are great tour guides, and then there’s Marco and Refaeli whom I believe represent the superlative in what the Rome tourism industry has to offer. Our driver (Marco) knew everything there was to know about the Italian countryside on the way to our destinations and filled us in with Italian history, legends, and everything in between. Our tour guide at Pompeii (Refaeli) was a wonderfully energetic and knowledgeable historian who strolled through the ruins akin to that of a child on Christmas. My wife and I learned so much on this trip and it will certainly be one of our highlights during our vacation in Italy.

Line B allows you to have an overview of the coast, we did the entire route without going down, and it really deserves it! Line A, on the other hand, being dedicated to the part of the historic center, lends itself to descents and ascents. Both are useful for an overview of the city.

Po meni vrlo jednostavan način za obići grad i upoznati ga na brzinu. Postoje dvije linije, jedna koja ide uz grad, a druga koja ide u zaljev. Crvena i plava. Naravno možete izaći na bilo kojoj stanici koja je mjesto vašeg interesa i ponovo uči i vratiti se na početno mjesto.

Busy but well organised and well worth doing good value for money

perfect for all ages. it's easy-to-use and very joyful.
