If you want an unforgettable day on your holiday, you must join us for an excursion to explore the Caves of Kefalonia and Myrtos Beach. We start our tour with a visit to the Nautical museum, where you can see how the traditional and the ancient ships were built in the past and then we will visit Drogarati, a cave over 100 million years old with stalactite and stalagmite formations. Afterwards, we will have a boat trip around the Lake known also as the Cave of the Nymphs. During the visit in the underground lake, you can enjoy the crystal-clear brackish water which combines archaeology and mythology. Where the God Pan was indifferent to Melissanthi’s love and from her sorrow she fell in the lake, therefore the lake took her name. Then our next stop will be the famous Myrtos beach for swimming in the turquoise waters where you will have plenty of time to enjoy the beach and the sun (2 ½ hours swim stop). Myrtos is the most photographed area. The beach of a thousand colors, is an organized one with a snack bar, toilet facilities, changing rooms, lifeguards, sunbeds, and umbrellas which you can make use off.

Guests will be picked up from their resorts to connect with the ferry boat from the port of Agios Nikolaos, Skinari. At the start of the tour you will see the Venetian castle of St George's as we pass by. This was the capital of Kefalonia until the end of the 17th Century. First stop will be the monastery of St. Gerassimos, the patron of the Island who was known for his miraculous abilities to cure people with mental illness. The monastery is considered one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Kefalonia and is situated under the imposing Mount Ainos. Next we head to the impressive Drogarati Cave, located outside of Sami, with its fine stalactites & stalagmites. Experts estimate that the cave is about 150 million years old. Continuing on to Melissani Lake and Cave. Take a short boat trip on the lake located within the cave and experience the fantastic colors of the water as the sunlight is reflected through the open roof. Our next stop will be at the town of Aghia Efimia. You will have time here for lunch, a stroll or souvenir shopping. After we drive towards Argostoli along the west coast of the island and have a short photo stop at the viewpoint overlooking Myrtos Beach. This is followed by a short break in Argostoli for a nice stroll around the square. The ferry boat departs Kefalonia at 18.00 and arrives back in Zakynthos at approx. 19.45. You will then be transferred back to your resort.

This incredible underground lake is a fantastic sight to see and you’ll be blown away by the natural beauty here. • Next is the picturesque fishing village of Agia Efimia. This once-quiet fishing town now attracts yachts and tourists looking to admire the beautiful sea views from one of the many traditional Greek tavernas on the waterfront. • Finally, the last stop on the tour is the stunning Myrtos Beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Don’t forget to snap plenty of pictures of the breathtaking scenery! • If you have chosen to visit the traditional village of Assos* over Antisamos Beach, this will be the last stop of the tour before you had back to Argostoli and your cruise ship. Seeing the place gives you a better understanding of what you have read about it, it is clear why Ithaca, a rough and rugged land surrounded by magic and colourful coves, gave birth to the brilliant, resourceful, ingenious Odysseus.
