What people are saying about Ek Balam

Overall rating

4.7
(59 reviews)

This was a cool tour! Ek Balam is really magical, and I love how it’s still surrounded by jungle. Our tour guide, William, was knowledgeable and allowed us free time to climb some of the structures (visit now because they may prohibit tourists from climbing as it gets more popular). The largest structure pops out above the trees and it’s a site to behold - jungle as far as the eye can see, 360°. After Ek Balam we went to the cenote nearby, X’Canché, which was okay. It’s an open cenote and we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves when we got there. But the second cenote, Hubiku, was much nicer. Quite touristy, but it was nice. A place to get food, beverages, bathrooms and changing rooms. We even got a couples massage after a quick swim in the cenote! Our driver, Sergio, was excellent. He was so kind, and spoke Spanish slowly and translated what he could - it helped us a lot. And waiting for us while we had all the fun - we really appreciated him. It was great day! 5 stars!

We had a full day starting at 7:00am with our fantastic driver, Sergio. We arrived at Chichen Itza at 8:00am which turned out to be a great time - cooler and far less people. Our guide, Henry, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his culture. After a stop at a cenote we went to Ek Balam where our guide, Balthazar, was also very knowledgeable and proud of his culture. My husband accidentally left his jacket in the car and our driver had the office contact us immediately to return it. Without hesitation we would recommend Lakin Tours for a professional yet personal tour.

I would highly recommend this tour which took us to the two Mayan ruins site, first Chichen itza then Ek balam. It is a long day and tiring but well worth seeing the contrast with both sites which were both stunning. The swim in the cenote and buffet lunch was a great break in the middle of the day. The tour was well organized. Pick up was punctual, with good communication. We were a group of 10. Our tour guide, Miguel was very knowledgeable, friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable time. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

The tour was great! The arrangements beforehand went really well and we received lots of recommendations and descriptions of the process. The pickup was on time and without any problems. The transport vehicle was clean, modern and comfortable. The driver was very nice. We were only a group of 3 people, which was really good. The guides spoke very good English and were very nice. Personal requests were also taken into account. All in all, it was worth every cent and we would book it again in the same way. Clear recommendation 👌

Carmen, our guide was amazing. she was so knowledgeable, and had so much energy even at the end of a very long day. our driver Alexis was a good driver and got us everywhere safely.
