In addition, this place is very important because it was here that the first written sources of Khorezm, a calendar and plaster statuettes of singers were found. - Kizilkala: along the way visit one of the garrison fortresses of this Oasis. By the reason of the color of the clay, it became known as the "Red Fortress". - Ayazkala: one of the more important oasis fortresses which consists of 3 parts. Fortresses were built around the perimeter of the oasis borders to protect against the raids of nomads from the north. This fortress is one of the most remote but one of the most well-organized and protected fortresses. Name of fortress means "Severe Frost Fortress". You can understand why it was so called only by visiting in winter, because the cold of the steppe is one of the most terrible colds. From Bukhara: 2-Day Desert Yurt Camp Tour

Day 1 - Bukhara-Nurata city -Desert Yurt Camp At 9:00, depart from Bukhara via Nurata city to the desert yurt camp located near Lake Aydarkul (total 5 hours of drive). On the way to the yurt camp, stop in Nurata to visit the ruins of Alexander the Great’s fortress, holy spring, and other sights. Have lunch in Nurata and then continue to the desert yurt camp. Upon arrival, settle into your yurt, enjoy a short camel ride, or walk around the dunes before enjoying the evening around the fireplace listening to songs of a local bard. Day 2 - Desert Yurt Camp-Lake Aydarkul-Samarkand After breakfast, visit the nearby village of Dungalak by getting a car ride or walking on foot (4km). During the village visit, you can get familiar with the life of village people who mainly live on livestock and sheep farming. You will then drive by car or ride on the camels (an additional 20$ per camel) from the camp to Lake Aydarkul (8 km to the southeast). Aydarkul is an artificial salty lake that stretches 180 km to the east, being the largest wetland body in the area it is home to many aquatic birds such as cranes, pelicans, numerous waders, many ducks, and goose species. Enjoy a picnic at the lake. Depending on the season you can swim or just stroll along the lake shores observing the birds. In the afternoon transfer to Samarkand (5 hours of drive). *Please note: private tours can be started from Samarkand as well.

Shakhrisabz - Samarkand ± 2 hours (80 kms) Departure: Bukhara(hotel/airport/railway station) Description: Departure from Bukhara (the time can be customized by request of travellers). We are heading towards Shakhrisabz from Bukhara. We will go through deserts (the deserts of Central Asia are not like Arab deserts) and across the steppe. Along the way, you can see a natural reserve from afar. On the road you can see huge amount of oil refineries and gas production companies. Only a person from the outside can smell the gas that local people have long been adapted. Arrival in Shakhrisabz. - Shakhrisabz: Tamerlane's hometown where by his order was built the largest residence in Central Asia from which today remain only the ruins of a huge entrance portal. - Aksaray Residence - Dorut Tilovat Complex (the mausoleum of Tamerlane's mentor and father) - Dorus Saodat Complex (the mausoleum of Tamerlane's beloved son) - Crypt of Tamerlan. The place where Timur himself also should have been buried, but sudden death forced the heirs to be buried in Samarkand, but Timur prepared a crypt for himself that has still been preserved but without burial. Lunch (extra, by request we can arrange it by 12 usd per person. Salads, 1st meal, 2nd meal and desserts, season fruits, tea, water and bread) Depart from Shakhrisabz. - Takhtakaracha Pass: stop for Panoramic view from ±1600 m. In addition you can see many restaurants here that cook only lamb on clay ovens which is a local traditional dish and was a favorite food of Tamerlan . Arrival in Samarkand (hotel/airport/railway station).
