The shrine is renowned for its beautiful grounds, historic architecture, and vibrant festivals, making it a popular destination for both worshippers and tourists. Return to Fukuoka at the end of the tour.

Meet your guide at your accommodation, where your guide will be waiting for you to begin your customized tour of Minami-Aso and Takachiho. Choose the stops you'd like to make, but your itinerary may look something like the following: Head to Shirakawa Spring Park as your first stop, where you'll immerse yourself in the beauty of one of Kumamoto's renowned parks. Spend some time soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and exploring the shrine's surroundings. Afterward, we’ll marvel at the unique Wearing Rock (Tsunataki-iwa), a fascinating natural wonder with deep cultural roots. ▼Next Up: Miyazaki Our journey continues to the sacred Amano Iwato Shrine in Takachiho, Miyazaki Prefecture. This shrine is famous for its tradition of stacking stones to make wishes at the Amano Kawara, and it's deeply rooted in Japanese mythology. According to the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, this is the very place where the sun goddess Amaterasu hid in ancient times. The shrine is a powerful site known for its healing energies and is a popular destination for those seeking good fortune and divine protection. You’ll have about 70 minutes to explore and experience the shrine’s spiritual aura. The story begins with the old man finding a little girl in a shining bamboo grove. The child was named "Princess Kaguya" and grew into a very beautiful princess. Although she was loved by many suitors and the emperor, she eventually returned to the moon. The lunar capital where Princess Kaguya left everything behind and returned to. It seems like a brilliant and wonderful world that everyone longs to visit. What kind of garden did that palace have? Starting Friday, August 9, 2024, "Princess Kaguya's Glowing Garden in Sakuramachi Kumamoto" will open at Sakuramachi Garden in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, overlooking Kumamoto Castle. This exhibition is an elegant moonlit night exhibition decorated with contemporary art using bamboo lanterns, based on the motif of Princess Kaguya's moon garden, which is set "after" the ancient Japanese tale of the Bamboo Cutter. As CHIKAKEN's first paid, permanent exhibition (until May), we will be able to achieve unprecedented scale decoration and construction, providing nighttime economy content (※) that combines history, culture, and art unique to Japan. We dedicate this as a "light of gratitude" to everyone in Kumamoto who has nurtured CHIKAKEN for the past 20 years, and as a "light of determination" for the new world of bamboo lanterns that are about to begin. Please come and experience the unique and overwhelming bamboo lantern space of CHIKAKEN, where we are constantly exploring the possibilities of bamboo lanterns.

Feel free to contact us. ＝＝＝＝＝ Kumamoto Castle remains in a state close to when it was originally constructed, with its main keep, turrets, and magnificent stone walls. It is a rare place where visitors can actually see and admire the castle in its historical glory. Kumamoto Castle was constructed by a powerful and strategic samurai warlord named Kato Kiyomasa. And Kumamoto Castle boasts exceptional architectural design. It was constructed by incorporating a hilly terrain with an elevation of approximately 50 meters. The height of the beautiful main keep, located at the heart of the castle, is said to be equivalent to a 14-story building. It is beauty, grandeur, and special architectural techniques. This program is designed to contribute to the reconstruction of Kumamoto Castle. In 2016, the Kumamoto region was struck by a major earthquake with a maximum intensity of 7 (magnitude 7.3). Of course, Kumamoto Castle itself also suffered significant damage. About 30% of the castle's stone walls collapsed. The reconstruction process is estimated to take 30 years, and a portion of the proceeds from this program will contribute to the restoration of Kumamoto Castle.
