We continue to a popular stop on the tour at Granby farm, where a fika will be served (swedish coffee with pastries). We continue to the charming town of Sigtuna, which was founded in the late viking era. Here, we'll explore the ruins of Saint Olaf church, the norwegian Viking warrior, who later converted to christianity and finally became an Saint. You will some private time to enjoy a lunch, shopping , wander through the town's picturesque streets or just relax. Next, stop is Gamla Uppsala (Old Uppsala) with all its famous burial mounds, which date back to the first centuries AD until the end of the Viking era. Gamla Uppsala was also the spiritual center of the Vikings in all of Scandinavia and there they gather together for Midwinter blot festivals. From legends it is said that the pagan temple was burned down in 1087, a church was built on top of it, which became the main cathedral for the country and the seat of the country's first archbishop. Last stop will be the university town of Uppsala, we will visit the main cathedral in Sweden today. As we are leaving you will enjoy a brief guided tour through the university areas. The journey back to Stockholm takes about one hour, then you can openly ask about just anything or just relax and enjoy the tour back. Discover how the Stockholm County Museum was able to identify her and experience her life.  The next stop is Jarlabanki's Causeway, an 11th-century Viking age bridge built by Earl Jarlabanki. He was an arrogant Viking who liked to show off his power. Take in the view of the 150-meter-long causeway and learn about bridge-building and the development of roads and communication in that era.  Head on to a Viking council, preserved in its original location for 1000 years. Get to understand the Viking culture, society, and mentality through the guide's explanation at the council. Learn how the Vikings ruled their society. The main attraction on this tour is Sigtuna. The little town of 8000 inhabitants is the oldest still existing town in Sweden and holds many historical gems both on the streets and inside the Sigtuna Museum. Drive just outside of Stockholm and visit castle Drottningholm. This elegant royal palace was built in the 16th century for the Swedish royal family and became the regular summer residence of the Swedish royal court throughout the 18th century. Next, stop for lunch in Sigtuna, Sweden’s oldest town. Take a walk through its historic streets. Visit the Venngarn castle, a 13th-century palace most famously owned by the Swedish nobleman Gabriel De La Gardie. Learn about De La Gardie’s fascinating life story from your knowledgable guide. Once one of the richest men in all of Sweden, De La Gardie suffered a tragic reversal of fortunes and ended his life in destitution. Explore the Skokloster Palace, an impressive baroque palace which stands as a monument to the former Swedish Empire. Walk its scenic grounds and see its stately interiors. The palace also contains a wonderful collection of paintings, furniture, textiles, tableware, old books and historical weapons. When the Skokloster is closed during October through May, a different castle will be visited instead.
