Johannes is CEO and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He graduated with distinction from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology with a Master's Degree in Biochemistry. While still in university, he successfully led the company to its first venture capital round. After a brief interlude as Visiting Associate at the Boston Consulting Group, he decided to join GetYourGuide as CEO in June 2009. As far as his work allows him, he likes to play double bass and hike in the Alps.
Pascal is CFO and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He holds a MSc in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich. Pascal is the good soul of the company and a hands-on guy who takes care of finance and all operational tasks. Before joining GetYourGuide he was president of the leading Swiss student consulting company ETH juniors and worked at Siemens Mobility as product manager. Active since childhood, you often see him engaging in high-adrenaline activities from paragliding to cliff diving.
Tobias is CTO and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich and a Master of Advanced Studies in Secondary and Higher Education. Tobi is usually the first to arrive in the morning and because the business team members don't really understand what exactly he's doing to the system, except that it works, he is often referred to as the wizard of coding. In his free time, he plays in a well-known local rock band.
Martin is VP of Product and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology with a Master's Degree in Cell Biology. Because his daily work revolves around playing around with colors and CSS properties, the business team constantly envies him for being able to create those "wow, that looks cool" moments. Apart from having a obsession for funky sunglasses, he loves skiing in deep powder and climbing really high mountains.
In November 2011 Maki joined GetYourGuide's IT-Team. He holds a degree in Interaction Design and works in the front-end area. He is an expert in creating a sophisticated tortellini code with a classy tomato sauce, vegetarian jQuery, and a French spinach-eggplant creme. However, in his spare time one can find him more often in his studio than in the kitchen. If he is not busy perfecting his code, he creates strange things normally called art.
Francisco de Freitas
Francisco joined our team in December 2011. He originally comes from Brazil where he acquired his Bachelor's in Computer Science. After working at different companies and living one year in Vancouver, Canada, he came to Switzerland in 2009 pursuing new life goals, bringing to the GetYourGuide IT Team a Master in Informatik from the University of Zürich. His position is to support the GetYourGuide backend system and, whenever time permits, he is an avid Skier, enjoys long bike tours and plays Capoeira.
Dr. sc. Christa Deiwiks
Christa joined the IT Team in Zürich in April 2012. Originally from Cologne, Germany, she completed her studies in Cognitive Science in Osnabrück and graduated with a PhD in Political Science from ETH Zürich. After a life in academia she is thrilled to support the IT team with her experience in handling large datasets and building dynamic websites. In her free time she can usually be found riding her mountain-bike, which has taken her to single trails and races all over Switzerland and abroad. She also loves going off-piste on her snowboard, solving brain teasers, playing the piano, and travelling.
Tao is VP of Sales and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He graduated cum laude in economics from Tilburg University. Before starting GetYourGuide, he studied and worked in China, Switzerland and the Netherlands, and presided over ETH juniors, a leading European student consulting company. Whenever he is not dreaming of world domination with GetYourGuide, he likes to read the Economist or play soccer.
Sue is Product Director for the Americas and in charge of all destinations stretching from the northernmost boundary of Canada to Tierra del Fuego – she has recently requested a global superhero cape to assist in her job duties. With over 10 years experience in the travel industry, Sue adds much needed industry expertise and knowledge of the American market to the team. In her off time she enjoys reading, riding and cooking (actually she enjoys eating, but cooking is the means to an end.)
Martin leads the product team in Berlin. This former IT cool boy shifted to the dark side with an MBA from IE Business School and joined GetYourGuide to change the world of travel. With his 'Latino' touch and European roots, he is on top of all Spanish-speaking countries and oversees our super international product management team in Germany's capital. In his free time he enjoys playing any sport from skiing to beach soccer and hanging out until sunrise.
Annie graduated in Economics from Grenoble and studied International Politics at Florence University. Based out of London, she has worked in travel for over 20 years for wholesalers, tour operators and online companies. In her spare time, she can be found at the Emirates Stadium, cheering on her favorite team, or on a dance floor, salsaing all night long.
Sahar is a product manager at GetYourGuide's Berlin office. She graduated from Humboldt Universitat in Berlin with a Master's in British Studies with a focus on culture and media. In 2009 she moved to Berlin from Iran, where she'd mainly worked as an English teacher. She loves travelling and is very much interested in meeting new people from diverse cultures. With a social activist background, she has a knack for getting into hot discussions regarding human rights and politics.
Kathrin is one of our Las Vegas product managers. She was born in Munich and is mother of three children. Kathrin graduated from the University of Munich and has worked her way through a number of jobs from broadcasting researcher, editor, au-pair coordinator to translator. She has lived in the US for the past ten years but travels to Germany every year to stock up on chocolate and coffee. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, showing her kids the world, trying new restaurants and harboring stray kids in her neighborhood.
Sabrina joined the GetYourGuide product team in August 2011. During her time at the University of Heide, she completed a Bachelor's degree in International Tourism Management. After numerous internships in travel agencies, TUI Germany and incoming agencies in Spain, she has become a tourism expert. At GetYourGuide Sabrina is responsible for taking care of our German suppliers. She is excited to discover the city of Berlin and explore the local electronic music scene. Sabrina has a passion for psychology as well as nude photography, and spends a lot of her free time reading dime novels.
Gina-Lisa James is a product coordinator at GetYourGuide at the Las Vegas Office. Born in Trinidad and Tobago and having been raised in Antigua and Barbuda, Gina is a true Caribbean girl. She is presently attending the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) for a Degree in Travel and Tourism Management, where she also serves as the President of the International Student Organization (ISO). In her free time she loves cooking and traveling, and always enjoys life with a smile.
Richard Bailey graduated in 2011 with a BA in German from the University of Nottingham and joined the team in February 2012 as GYG's Product Coordinator. Richard supports the product team and our suppliers in all things relating to using the system and also helps out approving new tours. He is a mountain biking fan but finds himself stranded without his mountain bike in a very flat part of Germany. Fortunately his other interest is wing chun kung fu, which he practices several times a week. When he isn't pedaling or punching, he can often be found in Berlin's finest bars and clubs.
Alexi is happy to have joined Berlin's product management team in March of 2012. Originally from Milwaukee, WI USA she graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire in 2008 with BAs in Economics and European History. Post-graduation, Alexi worked in product management and sales where she spent three years in the medical industry developing business and marketing strategy and selling new product lines. But, with a real passion for travel and culture, she decided to leave her home in the US to live in Germany's exciting capital and work in the travel industry where she can help others see the world. At GetYourGuide Alexi handles all of English-speaking Europe as well as the Pacific Rim. In her free time you will find Alexi aimlessly exploring the streets of Berlin, writing, and desperately trying to learn German.
Sara comes from two lands, half a world apart. Born and partially raised in Iraq, she later moved to the land of the long white cloud – New Zealand. She comes from a food science background and has worked in the horticulture and biosecurity sectors. In May 2012, Sara made her third big move: to Berlin, joining GetYourGuide as Product Coordinator. She has been enjoying the unconventional city. In her spare time, she reads novels, hangs out in cafes, and cooks Iraqi-style beetroot dip.
Though originally Berlin-born, Janette has lived in Paris, Hannover, and Cologne and backpacked through Thailand and Australia. She even spent two years living on a river boat! Janette joined GetYourGuide’s product team in June 2012 as a product coordinator, where she utilizes her background in Tourism studies to great effect. She fills her free time by hanging out with friends, reading, and watching movies. She has two passions: Music and Cola! For her, a day without the bubbly beverage would be unthinkable!
Originally from Los Angeles, Audrey has traveled, worked and lived abroad, experiencing what Europe has to offer. She has extensive background in customer service, sales, merchandising, e-commerce management, and new marketplace launches. Though she has been successful throughout her career, she decided to turn to a more exciting chapter in her life within the tourism field and join the Las Vegas Sales team. When she is not working, she keeps busy with her husband, Toni, and their two small children, Lilu and Julian.
Eugen is Head of Business Development and Partnerships. After realizing that becoming a professional tennis player or a star director was out of reach, he moved from Munich to Berlin, the Silicon Valley of Europe. Now he promotes GetYourGuide's exciting business model within the travel industry.
Jonas is our Social Media Manager at the Berlin office. Born on Rügen, Germany's largest island, he later moved to Rostock where he studied Social Sciences. After completing his Bachelor's degree, Jonas remained at the University of Rostock and completed a Master's in Sociology. Away from the office, Jonas stays in shape by practicing kickboxing. In addition he loves to watch movies, and he wins just about every board game he plays.
An award-winning film director, musician, and artist, Joze Basa leads video production at GetYourGuide's Berlin office. The Slovenian native has directed feature fiction films, shorts, documentaries, and commercial videos–and he's got the cred to show for it. In 2006 he was named the "Most Promising Artist of the Year" by the Slovenian Film Artists' Association based on his first film, for which he was also awarded the highest national awards: The Critics Award for Best Film, The Audience Award for Best Film and the Vesna Award–the so-called Slovenian Oscar–for Best Screenplay. Though he defines himself as an artist of every medium, Joze studied Mathematics and Physics at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He loves to capture time in photographs and video, play guitar and piano, sing, run, and discover life.
Born in Düsseldorf, Philip has lived in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, where he studied European Studies at the University of Maastricht. After receiving his Master of Arts there, Philip moved to back to Germany – to Berlin, where he worked for various Online Marketing agencies before joining GetYourGuide as an Online Marketing Trainee in July 2012. In keeping with his experience in Social Media Marketing, Philip is leading GetYourGuide’s 2012 Photo Contest. When he’s not working, Philip is an accomplished soccer player who in 2003 won the Belgian Youth Championship with his team, RSC Anderlecht.
Katja Lüthke joined our Berlin customer service team in May 2011. After finishing her apprenticeship in tourism she ventured into the Greek and Austrian wilderness to entertain kids. Now back in civilized Germany, she is a member of the customer service team. In her free time she loves sports and is really into judo, baking cookies and reading books.
Franca supports the GetYourGuide customer service team in Berlin since July 2011. She finished her vocational education at a big travel agency and can now call herself a graduated travel management assistant. At GetYourGuide she plans to contribute her broad tourism knowledge and help elevate our customer service to the next level. In her free time, the Berlin native likes to explore new corners of the city and its beautiful surrounding areas.
Hector joined the Get Your Guide Team in October 2011. Prior to joining GetYourGuide's Las Vegas office he was working for a local tour helicopter company. Hector has been in the travel/tour company industry for 10 years and also has over 10 years customer service experience. When Hector isn't working, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports.
Caitlin is Head of Content at GetYourGuide's Berlin office. She holds a Bachelor's degree in English from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and a Master's degree in Spanish from Middlebury College. Caitlin earned her writing chops at Fathom, an American strategy and creative agency, and served as Editor-in-Chief of The Retrospective, an online culture, music and fashion magazine. She comes to Berlin after having lived the past four years in Madrid, Spain, where a Fulbright grant planted the first seeds of Iberophilia. In her free time, Caitlin writes, invents recipes, hunts for new music, and explores Berlin.
Conor is English Content Editor at GetYourGuide's Berlin office. He holds Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science from the University of California at San Diego. Conor got into less academic writing working at Dial House, a branding and marketing agency in San Francisco. He moved to Berlin in 2010, and after some time working as a freelance journalist, joined GetYourGuide in May 2012. In his free time Conor cooks, listens to rap music, and works on his bike.
Kevin started in the IT development team in Zurich in December 2009. He was responsible for turning our CRM software into a fully featured administration tool that can do everything besides make coffee. Since Kevin has moved to Berlin in 2011, he has worn and is still wearing many hats. His achievements include setting up the old and the new office while continuing to provide technical support and programming small features to make business life easier for GetYourGuide employees. He is now in charge of accounting operations in Germany. He likes to play soccer and go to Berghain after our Pizza Fridays.
Antje joined GetYourGuide as HR Coordinator in December 2011. If you want to work for us, she is the first person to talk to. After having completed her studies in Business Administration at the Technical University of Dresden, she moved to Paris where she worked as a headhunter for two years. Afterwards Antje worked in executive education and in the administration of two master's programs at a business school. Playing basketball is one of Antje's greatest passions. With her team, TuS Neukölln, she hopes to win the league and earn the title of Berliner Meister.
