Live guide

You’ll begin the day’s adventure with a high-speed catamaran ride to the Channel Islands. A guide will show you the treasures of this National Park including dolphins, whales and cave dwellings. There are over 120 caves for you to explore by sea kayak!

In the morning we depart from Ventura Harbor, outside of Los Angeles, for Santa Cruz Island by high-speed catamaran. The channel crossing aboard the 72-foot vessel is a good time to be on the lookout for whales and dolphins, which are often sighted during the journey.

Once we arrive at Santa Cruz Island you can grab your cooler and backpack and meet up with the rest of the group at the Red Kayak Staging Area. There will be a locker available to you here for stowing items during while kayaking.

At this point you’ll don your gear in preparation for a training session on proper paddling and caving techniques that are important for the kayaking adventure ahead.

The National Park features over 120 sea caves, some of which you’ll be able to explore by kayak. Your craft will be sit-on-top kayak, which is perfect for maneuvering your way around inside the caves.

Staying overnight on the island is an option. If you decide to set up camp here, which is the best way to experience Scorpion Ranch on Santa Cruz Island, you can kayak again early the next morning. Many visitors tell us that early morning is the best time to explore!
