Description:

To enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience of an audience with the Pope at the Vatican you need to have an appointment, and priority viewing tickets are limited.

On your way to the Papal audience, you will travel by air-conditioned coach through some of Rome's major sightseeing spots, including the Piazza della Repubblica, the historic Aurelian Walls, the well-known Villa Borghese Gardens, and the northern gate of Rome, which leads into majestic Piazza del Popolo.

Here you will have a chance to see the Egyptian Obelisk, dating back to the time of Ramses II. Before arriving at St. Peter's Square, and preparing for your audience with the Pope, you will glimpse the impressive Castel Sant'Angelo and the tomb of Emperor Hadrian.

The Papal audience will be held in either St Peter's Square, St Peter's Basilica, or the Audience Hall, depending on seasonal conditions and the number of visitors taking part in the audience. Before the beginning of the audience, you will be given further information on when and where to meet.

Reviewed by Angela from Oberstdorf, Germany on November 25th, 2011 The booking was made at short notice. We were picked up punctually from the hotel.Tour guide and bus driver were friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful, impressive experience at the audience with Pope Benedict XVI. Many thanks.

  • Rating: 3 “convenient but expensive”

Reviewed by Margaret from Reading, United Kingdom on October 5th, 2011 Trip went very smoothly and we had very good seats, could see the pope very clearly on his drive round. Niggles were being dropped at very expensive gift shop and trip took 5 hours rather than advertised 3-4. :Made meeting up with rest of my party afterwards difficult. If I'd been in Rome longer would have gone independently, but on a short trip I felt the convenience made it worth paying the price for me.

  • Rating: 2 “too expensive”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Herten, Germany on April 27th, 2011 The audience and the services with the Pope are free of charge. One only has to be there early enough to find a good spot The Swiss Guards distribute the free tickets.
On the tour you only pay the price for the short sightseeing tour that is conducted beforehand.

  • Rating: 2 “Don't shop in the souvenir store, totally overpriced!”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Straubing, Germany on April 27th, 2011 Do not shop in the gift shop you pass through before the papal audience. Absolutely over priced. If you do not want a seat, you can skip the tour.

  • Rating: 4 “Good pick up for papal audience”

Reviewed by Ursula from Heiden, Switzerland on April 26th, 2011 Very comfortable, with pick-up service from the hotel to the Papal Audience. Friendly guide, who took good care of us on our way to the Vatican. On the return trip to the city you can choose your drop off location.

  • Rating: 1 “Absolute rip-off!!!!”

Reviewed by Bernhar from Fuerth, Germany on April 22nd, 2011 Total rip off this tour. The ticket for the papal audience is normally free. Green light Tours cost 36 Euros per person. You can drive yourself to St. Peter's Cathedral and see the papal audience...withour spending a single Euro for the audience. The 36 Euro are for the bus ride. We were picked up at 6:45 am at the hotel, and the audiencec isn't until 10:30 am. In the meantime we were brought to the Souvenir shop, to spend more money. And then we sat in St. Peter's square for two hours. The guide of the Green Light Tours brought us to a spot the pope didn't even drive by. The return trip did not drop off at the hotel.

  • Rating: 4 “Doable”

Reviewed by Peter from 48163, Germany on April 22nd, 2011 The pick up at the hotel was a little cumbersome. It contributed to unecessary waiting time. The guide put a lot of effort into the tour and was nice.

  • Rating: 1 “too expensive, no information…”

Reviewed by Ljiljana from frankfurt, Germany on April 15th, 2011 40.00 Euro for a 15-minute ride, really not that great. I was so disappointed, my parents waited 1hour for the bus and in the end we had the seats all the way in the back.

  • Rating: 2

Reviewed by Hedwig from Garbsen, Germany on October 14th, 2010 Getting started went well, but the tour through Rome was far too superficial!

  • Rating: 2

Reviewed by Josef from Augsburg, Germany on October 8th, 2010 The visit of the Papal audience happened on time, but to pay 36 Euros to be supplied with a ticket to get into something that is in and of itself free and a half-hour bus ride is already a lot to swallow. The bus departure from the Via Amendola was unnecessarily early at 8:00 and we had to take the quite expensive Leonardo Express into town from Fiumicino instead of being able to use the week ticket we'd bought for the regional train. Then, in St. Peter's Square, the guide unloaded us into a souvenir shop for half an hour under the guise of giving us a washroom break. (At the edge of St. Peter's Square is a public toilet beside the Vatican post office and you don't need to visit a souvenir shop to use it. For the services rendered, 36 Euros are quite simply a slap in the face.

    Super Ausflug

  • Rating: 1 “Muss nicht unbedingt gebucht werden.”

Reviewed by Horst from Gaggenau, Germany on June 10th, 2013 Die Buchung ist unnötig.

  • Rating: 5 “Pick-up Service Top! Klasse Guide! Ein grandioses Erlebnis.”

Reviewed by Nadine from München, Germany on June 9th, 2013 Der Pick-up Service vom Hotel zum Treffpunkt war super pünktlich.

  • Rating: 5 “Sehr guter Ausflug”

Reviewed by Christian from Berlin, Germany on October 19th, 2012 Dieser Ausflug ist sehr empfehlenswert.
