Built for the World Fair in 1889, Gustave Eiffel’s plans were chosen at a major competition to study the possibility of raising an iron tower on the Champ de Mars. With a base of 125 square meters, and soaring to a height of over 980 feet (300 meters), Eiffel’s tower was selected from among 107 projects, and took 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days to construct. Since its opening, visitors have been able to access the floors of the monument via lifts, a technical feat for its time. Carefully preserved, this exceptional structural heritage testifies to the visionary genius of Gustave Eiffel.
Accompanied by a guide, who will recount numerous anecdotes throughout your visit, you will go behind the scenes of the staggering monument. Enter the former bunker, hidden under the Champ de Mars. A true privilege, slip backstage to the impressive engine room, which still controls the elevators. Next, head to the second floor. You will be greeted by amazing views. As a VIP, ascend to the roof of the prestigious restaurant, Le Jules Verne, to discover an incredible 360° panorama of Paris.
Please note that tickets for the Eiffel tower can only be purchased by the local operator 3 months in advance.
• Guided tour in English.
• Ticket to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower
• Access to the Eiffel Tower's wings, exclusively available only to participants of this tour, and not to general visitors
What's Not Included:

Good to Know:
• Please allow an additional 30-minutes when planning your itinerary for the day, as waiting time for the elevators may increase the tour duration beyond the scheduled time. The behind-the-scenes guided tour does not give clients priority access to the elevators. Cultival cannot be responsible for waiting times caused by a large number of visitors, or any technical problems that could change the course of the visit on the tour date itself. No refunds are possible in such cases.

“Great behind the scenes look at the Eiffel Tower.”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from APO, United States on March 4th, 2014 This was a great way to learn a bit more about the Eiffel Tower. We really enjoyed seeing the underground bunker, and kids will love seeing the machinery that runs the elevators. A good value for the price.
“interesting tour with skip-the-line benefits!”
Reviewed by Rebekah from sandy bay, Australia on January 8th, 2014 my boyfriend and I went on the behind the scenes tour of the eiffel tower late dec '13. Was a bit tricky to find the meeting spot amongst all the tourists! Interesting opportunity to see behind the scenes such as the radio station/bunker and the hydraulics of the lift. Added bonus of skipping the very long lines up the eiffel tower! Tour guide difficult to understand at times, but overall good tour.
“informative and interesting”
Reviewed by David from Ballarat, Australia on December 31st, 2013 Very good tour. Well worth the price, very good access and information.
Reviewed by Jean from Austin, United States on November 26th, 2013 My husband and I took the tour a few days ago. I was a little skeptical when I booked it. But I was so glad that I did it. The guide was very friendly and knowledgable. He told the group the history of the tower that we would not have known. It definitely made our visit to the tower a lot memorable. Did I mention that we got to skip the long line at the ground floor. Would definitely recommend the tour to anyone.
“Perfect ending for our Paris trip”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Wezemaal, Belgium on November 5th, 2013 We visited Paris and saved this guided tour as the final visit. This was perfect. Interesting tour, nice guide, small group and butifull views. Recommended. Only downside was the bunker. Expected bit more of that part. Overall perfect and worth the money.
“Lots of Fun!”
Reviewed by Ronda from Calgary, Canada on November 5th, 2013 We were really glad we booked this. It was stress-free to plan; lots of fun to be zooming along with other tourists seeing the sites. Our guide was knowledgeable and told us lots of stories and history with the sites. It was a bit cold and I was thankful I had thrown gloves into my suitcase. A hat would have been great too; no helmets are worn on bikes in Paris. The river cruise at the end was lovely too. There was the option to go inside the boat if one got cold.
“Great Guide & Great Tour”
Reviewed by Corrine from Durham, United States on October 27th, 2013 Even though this was our first trip to Paris, I wasn’t sure I wanted to ride up the Eiffel Tower. As the trip grew nearer, I decided I “should” go up and scrambled around online to find “skip the line” tickets. The only option available was the Get Your Guide tour which also included a look at the machinery below. Turns out, this was so much fun! My husband, who was even less enthusiastic than I about going up in the Eiffel Tower since he had been before, loved the wheels and gears and bunker tour. I loved it all and Cindy was a great guide!
“Things you never knew about the Eiffel tower”
Reviewed by Albert from Black Diamond, United States on October 14th, 2013 This was an interesting tour of places the public doesn't get to go including the large complex under the park, the gears and workings under the tower and the view from the roof of the restaurant on the second level. Our guide had a rather strong French accent but we enjoyed hearing the history of the tower and seeing behind the scenes.
“An excellent experience, well worth doing.”
Reviewed by Robert from Wellington 6143, New Zealand on October 1st, 2013 The tour was excellent. The guide was very knowledgable including having what appeared to be a personally compiled reference book including historical pictures and examples of how the tour has been used over the years it has been in place. The opportunity to see the underground components of the tower was very interesting and haviing organised access to level 2 without the requirement to queue was most valuable.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Calgary, Canada on September 28th, 2013 We had a great time!!!! Our tour guy was absolutely awesome and very informative. We didn't have to stay in any lines. Thank you! We highly recommend this tour!
“Good service at a fair price.”
Reviewed by William from Alpharetta, United States on September 28th, 2013 Good service at a fair price.
“Interesting and enjoyable tour.”
Reviewed by Traci from Greentown, United States on September 28th, 2013 We enjoyed the behind the scenes aspect. It was interesting and gave us easy access into the Tower Eiffel. At the time we finished, the tickets and line to the final ascent was quick, with little wait time.
The only aspect that we found difficult was the fact that no signs or clear display to find the tour guide. It was not printed in the information on our confirmation as to where to meet our guide. It would be helpful if they wore a "Behind the Scenes" shirt or had a sign or another guide waiting and organizing the group. The guide spoke very fluent English and was easily understood, which was helpful. I would recommend it to others.
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Dallas, United States on September 14th, 2013 Our guide was patient and had some interesting facts to share with us.
“Good guide,interesting history,nice back-stage look,skipped the lines!”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from East Granby, United States on September 8th, 2013 Our guide, Chloe was engaged and interesting, and interested in her topic. We enjoyed the "back-stage" look at the Eiffel Tower, especially the working machinery for the elevators. Well worth the price paid, would recommend to others.
“Great Tour but not for children.”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from LURGAN. CRAIGAVON., United Kingdom on September 5th, 2013 Tour was good way of skipping queue to 2nd floor. Our guide was quite hard to understand. The bunker part was a bit boring, we had 3 children with us who were uninterested.
“Interesting experience and smoothly run.”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from new york, United States on September 3rd, 2013 I thought the guide did a good job, but was surprised to see that it only went to the second level and not the top. I did not see anywhere that the tour did not take you up to the top. We were disappointed that we had to wait in line for a ticket and then to go to the top. Otherwise, it was well done.
“Very well organized with good information”
Reviewed by Hussein from Cairo, Egypt on August 30th, 2013 The visit was really fantastic with direct access to elevators.
“Fun tour and you get to skip the lines”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Stoneham, United States on August 28th, 2013 The tour itself was interesting. You get to go a few places others don't and you have a tour guide to provide an interesting history of the tower. Did you know it was once painted yellow? if not, this tour is for you. The "behind the scenes" portion is not as in depth as I would have liked but the old 1896 elevator mechanism is interesting to see. Also, skipping the line is a big plus to the whole experience. With 20,000 to 30,000 visitors a day, you will appreciate that part.
“Excellent guide who looked after us well amongst the crowds”
Reviewed by Margaret from Keighley, United Kingdom on August 22nd, 2013 Very good. Worth doing to beat the crowds. Could not bear to have stood in hours of queues in the heat

“Absolutely brilliant and excellent value for money”
Reviewed by Jonathan from London, United Kingdom on August 19th, 2013 We were met by our guide Chloe bang on time and went on to discover the bunkers, the Eiffel Tower engine room before proceeding to the roof of the Jules Verne restaurant to enjoy the panoramic views of Paris. There was no hanging around in queues on what was a very hot day in Paris. It was informative and crucially entertaing with quite a bit of humour thrown in. My son who is a hard to please 7 yr old thought it was "totally wicked".
“See the "hidden" eiffel tower and skip the lines!”
Reviewed by Gary from Elgin, United States on August 17th, 2013 Our guide met us at the tower and led us on a short trip to see the behind the scenes underground places. Then it was up the tower without waiting in a long line. The guide was very good and provided lots of interesting facts. After the tour, we got to stay on the second floor as long as we wanted, or we could buy a ticket for the top. It was a great tour.
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from DUMFRIES, United Kingdom on August 5th, 2013 Enjoyed this experience. Tour guide very friendly and knowledgeable. Got to see some things that you wouldn't normally with normal Eiffel tower entry. Also saves standing in long queue waiting for tickets.
“excellent, informative and friendly tour which was interesting.”
Reviewed by James from adelaide, Australia on July 31st, 2013 What an interesting and different tour of the Eiffel Tower. Included was a visit to the underground bunker as well as lots of relevant history of the Tower itself. Highly recommended.
“Fascinating insight into history of the tower and beats the queues!”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Graceville East, Australia on July 20th, 2013 Very interesting to understand the broader history of the tower. It was also nice to be able to book in advance and not wait in the long summer holiday queues.
“Excellent tour (and skip the line)”
Reviewed by Gary from New York, United States on July 13th, 2013 Very interesting tour but be prepared to devote a couple of hours. Getting in without waiting for the long lines was a definite plus.
“Informal, Interesting and informative”
Reviewed by Jonathan from Telford, United Kingdom on July 1st, 2013 An interesting insight into the history surrounding the building and use of the tower and the bunker which you just don't get from a brochure. Seeing the old lift workings in action was also very interesting.
The guide knew his subject very well and had the personality to keep everyone's interest and deal with all the questions we had.
It's a lot of detail to take in within a very short time - you could easily spend many hours on this tour.
“Just a good tour.”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Los Lunas, United States on June 27th, 2013 A little extra from the regular tour, but not required. They cover to much of the regular tour subject. I thought it would be really different.
“Very interesting and pleasant.”

“Best memory of the trip!!”
