Overview:

Explore a side to the Eiffel Tower that few tourists see and visit the impressive engine room of the iconic Paris structure. See how the elevators are controlled before ascending to the Le Jules Verne restaurant for VIP views of Paris.

Description:

See a side to the Eiffel Tower that few visitors get to see with exclusive access to the engine room. The 90-minute tour also includes a trip to the Le Jules Verne Restaurant for panoramic views of the city.

Built for the World Fair in 1889, Gustave Eiffel’s plans were chosen at a major competition to study the possibility of raising an iron tower on the Champ de Mars. With a base of 125 square meters, and soaring to a height of over 980 feet (300 meters), Eiffel’s tower was selected from among 107 projects, and took 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days to construct. Since its opening, visitors have been able to access the floors of the monument via lifts, a technical feat for its time. Carefully preserved, this exceptional structural heritage testifies to the visionary genius of Gustave Eiffel.

Accompanied by a guide, who will recount numerous anecdotes throughout your visit, you will go behind the scenes of the staggering monument. Enter the former bunker, hidden under the Champ de Mars. A true privilege, slip backstage to the impressive engine room, which still controls the elevators. Next, head to the second floor. You will be greeted by amazing views. As a VIP, ascend to the roof of the prestigious restaurant, Le Jules Verne, to discover an incredible 360° panorama of Paris.

Please note that tickets for the Eiffel tower can only be purchased by the local operator 3 months in advance.

  • Rating: 4 “Our guide, Cindy, was informative and charming”

Reviewed by RICHARD on May 20, 2015 The tour was well worth the time and money. The history was fascinating and Eiffel seemed years ahead of his time in planning the tower.
It would have been nice to see more of the bunker area but security reasons seemed to keep this from happening. Seeing the massive
inner workings of the elevators was truly remarkable. Skip the line is a must for anyone.

  • Rating: 4 “good, interesting, a bit too long”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer – cugy, Switzerland on May 17, 2015 very interesting visit, nice guide, but too long, especially with kids and when the weather is bad!

  • Rating: 5 “informative and entertaining, a excellent way to see the eiffel tower.”

Reviewed by Samantha – United Kingdom on May 8, 2015 Our tour guide was running a bit late ( a few mins) however he more than made up for it, he was informative, friendly, and made sure the children aged 9 and 7 were included and saw everything . I would recommend it to anyone who wants to tour the tower. It's like skip the line ticket with education and entertainment included.

  • Rating: 5 “behind the scenes”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer – Ascot, United Kingdom on May 6, 2015 This was a really nice experience, with entrance to the machine room and the old military bunker.
We did not really see a lot of the bunker itself but the information given was interesting and the highlight of course was it to go up the tower and we did not have to wait and queue as hundreds of people did wait to get up the tower. Level 2 was high enough for us although you would have the option to buy tickets to level 3 from there as well. The guide was very nice and also to see the machines for the elevators was very interesting. Would recommend this tour.
