Explore a side to the Eiffel Tower that few tourists see and visit the impressive engine room of the iconic Paris structure. See how the elevators are controlled before ascending to the Le Jules Verne restaurant for VIP views of Paris.
Built for the World Fair in 1889, Gustave Eiffel’s plans were chosen at a major competition to study the possibility of raising an iron tower on the Champ de Mars. With a base of 125 square meters, and soaring to a height of over 980 feet (300 meters), Eiffel’s tower was selected from among 107 projects, and took 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days to construct. Since its opening, visitors have been able to access the floors of the monument via lifts, a technical feat for its time. Carefully preserved, this exceptional structural heritage testifies to the visionary genius of Gustave Eiffel.
Accompanied by a guide, who will recount numerous anecdotes throughout your visit, you will go behind the scenes of the staggering monument. Enter the former bunker, hidden under the Champ de Mars. A true privilege, slip backstage to the impressive engine room, which still controls the elevators. Next, head to the second floor. You will be greeted by amazing views. As a VIP, ascend to the roof of the prestigious restaurant, Le Jules Verne, to discover an incredible 360° panorama of Paris.
Please note that tickets for the Eiffel tower can only be purchased by the local operator 3 months in advance.
• Guided tour in English.
• Ticket to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower
• Access to the Eiffel Tower's wings, exclusively available only to participants of this tour, and not to general visitors
What's Not Included:

Good to Know:

The local tour provider cannot be responsible for waiting times caused by a large number of visitors, or any technical problems that could change the course of the visit on the tour date itself. Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Hartford, United States on August 9th, 2014 Our guide Juan was very informative, attentive to the needs of the diverse age group. We got to see the "guts" of the tower, plus the bonus of a "secret" photographic venue just for our group. It was much more enjoyable than just going up in the tower. I'm glad I booked this. My 88 year old father got to check one more thing off his list. Thank you Cultival.
“Excellent, very interesting.”
Reviewed by Catherine from leigh on sea, United Kingdom on August 5th, 2014 Guide was outstanding. Went with 2 eight year olds who also loved it. Well worth the money.
“If you want something a bit out of the ordinary, this is it!”
Reviewed by Judy from Benalla, Australia on June 22nd, 2014 Highly recommend this Tour. It was great to learn about the history of the Tower and see the underground bunkers and the internal machinery that power the lifts. And the view at the end that everyone else gets to see was amazing too! Value for money.
“Informative and fun!”
Reviewed by Kathleen from Cooper City, United States on June 6th, 2014 My husband and I took the tour in late May, 2014. Our guide was Juan who was terrific. We learned new and fascinating information about the Eiffel Tower. Skipping the long lines was an added perk!

“Great tour, very informative, fun and enjoyable, Super guide. Thanks.”
Reviewed by Kevin from Aberfeldy, United Kingdom on May 14th, 2014 This is the way to both see every facet of the Eiffel Tower and gain an introduction to the various areas, views and sights of Paris. The Behind the Scenes tour, provided for a wonderful insight into its history aswell as all the latest information. The tour guide lady was extremely communicative, and as the Tower is a symbol of Paris and France, she was an excellent ambassador for Paris and France too.
I was so pleased to have spotted this tour, and would recommend it to all.
Thank you Cultival.

“Not much of interest in a tower unless you can get to the mechanics”
Reviewed by Robert from Victoria, Canada on April 23rd, 2014 Truly a fascinating tour with considerably more information than we expected. It was interesting seeing the bunker that housed the telecommunications equipment, and fascinating to see the mechanics underneath the legs of the tower and have their workings explained. The guide was excellent, taking extra care to be sure the children in the group could see and hear him, and making sure no one was lost on the trip to the 1st floor. Towers are rather interesting in that there is little of interest in them of themselves, and generally are viewing platforms, but the Eiffel Tower is interesting because of the some of the landmark mechanics developed to make it work.

Reviewed by Pamela from Mountain View, United States on April 6th, 2014 I got much more than I expected from the tour. I learned more of the history of the Eiffel Tower. The behind the scenes aspect was what intrigued me. It was interesting to learn how the elevators work, how they are maintained, and watch the movement of the cables, hydraulics, and counter weights. Once we were on the second level our guide walked us around and pointed out significant landmarks as well as telling us some history of Paris. Money well spent and I highly recommend it!
“Great behind the scenes look at the Eiffel Tower.”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from APO, United States on March 4th, 2014 This was a great way to learn a bit more about the Eiffel Tower. We really enjoyed seeing the underground bunker, and kids will love seeing the machinery that runs the elevators. A good value for the price.
“interesting tour with skip-the-line benefits!”
Reviewed by Rebekah from sandy bay, Australia on January 8th, 2014 my boyfriend and I went on the behind the scenes tour of the eiffel tower late dec '13. Was a bit tricky to find the meeting spot amongst all the tourists! Interesting opportunity to see behind the scenes such as the radio station/bunker and the hydraulics of the lift. Added bonus of skipping the very long lines up the eiffel tower! Tour guide difficult to understand at times, but overall good tour.

Reviewed by Jean from Austin, United States on November 26th, 2013 My husband and I took the tour a few days ago. I was a little skeptical when I booked it. But I was so glad that I did it. The guide was very friendly and knowledgable. He told the group the history of the tower that we would not have known. It definitely made our visit to the tower a lot memorable. Did I mention that we got to skip the long line at the ground floor. Would definitely recommend the tour to anyone.
“Perfect ending for our Paris trip”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Wezemaal, Belgium on November 5th, 2013 We visited Paris and saved this guided tour as the final visit. This was perfect. Interesting tour, nice guide, small group and butifull views. Recommended. Only downside was the bunker. Expected bit more of that part. Overall perfect and worth the money.
“Lots of Fun!”
Reviewed by Ronda from Calgary, Canada on November 5th, 2013 We were really glad we booked this. It was stress-free to plan; lots of fun to be zooming along with other tourists seeing the sites. Our guide was knowledgeable and told us lots of stories and history with the sites. It was a bit cold and I was thankful I had thrown gloves into my suitcase. A hat would have been great too; no helmets are worn on bikes in Paris. The river cruise at the end was lovely too. There was the option to go inside the boat if one got cold.
“Great Guide & Great Tour”
Reviewed by Corrine from Durham, United States on October 27th, 2013 Even though this was our first trip to Paris, I wasn’t sure I wanted to ride up the Eiffel Tower. As the trip grew nearer, I decided I “should” go up and scrambled around online to find “skip the line” tickets. The only option available was the Get Your Guide tour which also included a look at the machinery below. Turns out, this was so much fun! My husband, who was even less enthusiastic than I about going up in the Eiffel Tower since he had been before, loved the wheels and gears and bunker tour. I loved it all and Cindy was a great guide!
“Things you never knew about the Eiffel tower”
Reviewed by Albert from Black Diamond, United States on October 14th, 2013 This was an interesting tour of places the public doesn't get to go including the large complex under the park, the gears and workings under the tower and the view from the roof of the restaurant on the second level. Our guide had a rather strong French accent but we enjoyed hearing the history of the tower and seeing behind the scenes.
“An excellent experience, well worth doing.”
Reviewed by Robert from Wellington 6143, New Zealand on October 1st, 2013 The tour was excellent. The guide was very knowledgable including having what appeared to be a personally compiled reference book including historical pictures and examples of how the tour has been used over the years it has been in place. The opportunity to see the underground components of the tower was very interesting and haviing organised access to level 2 without the requirement to queue was most valuable.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Calgary, Canada on September 28th, 2013 We had a great time!!!! Our tour guy was absolutely awesome and very informative. We didn't have to stay in any lines. Thank you! We highly recommend this tour!

“Interesting and enjoyable tour.”
Reviewed by Traci from Greentown, United States on September 28th, 2013 We enjoyed the behind the scenes aspect. It was interesting and gave us easy access into the Tower Eiffel. At the time we finished, the tickets and line to the final ascent was quick, with little wait time.
The only aspect that we found difficult was the fact that no signs or clear display to find the tour guide. It was not printed in the information on our confirmation as to where to meet our guide. It would be helpful if they wore a "Behind the Scenes" shirt or had a sign or another guide waiting and organizing the group. The guide spoke very fluent English and was easily understood, which was helpful. I would recommend it to others.
