See the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Herculaneum and Italy’s most important archaeological museum on our full-day tour. We will meet you at the port where your cruise ship is docked and our driver will transport you in comfort throughout the day in an air-conditioned Mercedes sedan, minibus or minivan. If you wish, we can arrange a personal guide for the day’s tour, at additional cost.

First we’ll stop at Herculaneum, which has been preserved much as it was over 2000 years ago! Herculaneum was a residential town outside the city of Pompeii that was surrounded by the villas of many wealthy Romans. It was destroyed along with Pompeii in 79 A.D. and not rediscovered until 1709.

The eruption of Vesuvius buried Herculaneum with a rushing flow of boiling mud that preserved many household objects and wooden parts of houses that can be seen today. In fact, there are entire villas that are perfectly intact, along with their stunning brick work, frescos and mosaics.

Following our visit to Herculaneum we’ll move on to the National Archaeological Museum in Naples which houses a collection of some of the best works from the Greek, Roman and Renaissance periods. The museum’s collection also features Roman artifacts from both Pompeii and Herculaneum, including frescoes, mosaics, statues and utensils unearthed from the ancient Vesuvius eruption.

Naples is known for its creativity and lust for life. It is a city teeming with energy and yet it exudes the warmth of Southern Italy. Attractions in Naples include the city's Duomo and Palazzo Reale – and also the city’s inhabitants and its cuisine.

At the end of the tour your driver will drop you off where your cruise ship is docked.
