Overview:

Explore Munich through the lens of Third Reich history on an informative 3-hour walking tour. Visit infamous WWII locations such as the Hofbräuhaus, where the Nazi party was first formed, and Führerbau, site of the Munich Agreement.

Description:

Take a 3-hour walking tour of Munich and examine the infamous streets where some of the darkest stories of human history took root. Hitler referred to Munich as “Die Hauptstadt der Bewegung” (“Capital of the Movement”) and the city and its surrounds were central to the Nazi leader’s rise to power.

During the tour, you will examine how a nation of people known for their level-headed thinking allowed what is perhaps the greatest tragedy of the 20th-Century to unfold, and how the world lay sleeping while the Nazis built their war machine and solidified power.

You will discover how Munich has emerged from almost complete destruction during the Allied bombings and has been restored to its former glory. You will visit the famous Hofbräuhaus, the world's most famous beer hall, and the birthplace of the Nazi Party. You will also go to the Feldherrnhalle, Brienner Straße - home of the Nazi Party's powerbase – Führerbau – where the infamous Munich Agreement took place - Altes Rathaus, sites of the German resistance movements, memorials to victims of the Third Reich, and much more.

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Richmond, United States on September 2nd, 2014 Nice tour. Great history. Very informative

  • Rating: 2 “Guide was knowledgeable but to many people, to noisy, no ear buds.”

Reviewed by Fred from Rio Rancho, United States on August 6th, 2014 Company needs to provide a means for clients to be able to listen to the guide. It is very noisy and there were about 25 folks in our tour. My wife and I quit after the second stop as we could not hear.

  • Rating: 5 “Blake was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and an excellent presenter.”

Reviewed by Edward from Ellensburg, United States on March 30th, 2014 We scheduled the tour in Munich and could not print the receipt. This gave us trouble at the beginning of the tour. It would be better if you asked for a confirmation number and/or i.d.

He is a perfect guide: full of enthousiasm for the topic, very well informed on every detail - and able to speak without a break for four hours in the sun! You guys should be thankful to have someone like him in your team!

  • Rating: 4 “Enjoyable tour”

Reviewed by STUART from CHESTERFIELD, United Kingdom on August 30th, 2011 Our guide, Keith, gave us an interesting tour around the centre of Munich. His knowledge of the subject was in-depth and his enthusiasm was clear to see, though the tour should not be considered in any way sympathetic to the Hitler movement. He talks of the history of Germany and the First World War in some detail before focussing on the rise of Hitler in Munich. The tour includes visits to the famous Hofbrauhaus and the English Garden, the site of a war memorial. I recommend the tour, it's good value.
