Enjoy a fabulous trip to Ouarzazate and its surrounding areas. Ouarzazate is the threshold of Morocco's deep south, a striking mix of oases, kasbahs, and lush valleys. This vast desert plateau attracts tourists from all over the world, year after year.

This day trip takes you right across the chain of the High Atlas Mountains and over the famous Tizi-n-Tichka pass; at over 7,414 feet (2260 meters) high, it's the highest pass in all of Africa. All along the route you can catch glimpses of the Berber villages perched on the side of the mountains, sometimes hardly distinguishable from the mountains themselves…

As you reach the far side of the mountains the landscape changes dramatically, becoming semi-arid and desert-like. This area is home to the Kasbah architecture, with turrets on all buildings, adorned with grilled windows and soft peach-colored walls. These traditional houses are made of adobe, highly suitable for the conditions of the south.

Following your journey through the beautiful valleys, you will arrive at the ancient kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, which is a UNESCO World Heritage listed site. After visiting the Kasbah you will then journey onward to Ouarzazate, world renowned as the Moroccan Hollywood because of the famous films which have been shot there, including the diamond of the Nile, Lawrence of Arabia, Sodome et Gomorre, le Joyau du Nil, Jésus de Nazareth, Kingdom of heaven, the Mommy, Gladiator, 7 days in Tebet, Alexander the Great, Babel, and many more!

You can also take the chance to visit the Taourirt Kasbah, also classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. You may also stop by a cinema studio if you are interested. Our delicious lunch on the tour will be served at the Kasbah Etoile restaurant at Ouarzazate.

  • Rating: 1 “Very Unprofessional”

Reviewed by Neil – Tewkesbury, United Kingdom on August 1, 2014 We received an email a couple of hours before the trip advising the pre arranged pick up point had been changed so we had to change our plans. The local guide then didnt up at either point and did not answer the phone so we did not even end up going. Also, our local Riad owners advised that of the 10-11 hours of the advised trip duration was just travelling to the location with only a few minutes at each site. They recommend to their guests that if they were to do this trip it should be a 2 day trip. All in all this was a terrible experience and we completely missed going to what looks like a nice location.

  • Rating: 2 “Nice view but that was only thing to be impressed.”

Reviewed by Sastra – Ladprao, Thailand on October 24, 2013 The driver confirmed us to pickup at 7.15am at our Riad and finally came at 8.00am. Then we were moved to another place in the city to wait for another van to join and the actual time to start the tour was at around 9.00am. On the way to Ouarzazate we passed splendid view but the driver ruined everything. He didn't speak English as said in the ticket so there was no explanation about every places we went, just took us there. He drove fast and stop, fast and stop, and that made us feel dizzy. 2 persons threw up on the way uphill !!!

We reached Ait Ben Haddou at 4pm and could spend only 1 hour there.

At the end, we came back to Marrakech at 10.30pm !!!

  • Rating: 3 “A booking for a German speaking guide that we didn't get!”

Reviewed by René – Rickenbach, Switzerland on June 29, 2012 The guide couldn't speak any German although we were promised a German speaking guide in the offer. The driver was very friendly and his style of driving was smooth!

  • Rating: 1 “Katastrophe”
