Overview:

Enjoy a panoramic tour of London on a double decker vintage bus, and watch the Changing of the Guards. See Big Ben, the London Eye, and Westminster Abbey. Then cruise down the Thames River, past Shakespeare's Globe, London Bridge, and more.

Description:

See the highlights of London via 2 classic modes of transport on this half-day adventure. First, you will enjoy great views of Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and the London Eye, as you meander through the historic streets on board a vintage double decker bus.

Continue to see St. Paul’s Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren’s architectural masterpiece, where Admirals Nelson and Wellington are buried, and Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married. Continue to the Tower of London, built nearly 1,000 years ago during the reign of William the Conqueror.

Home to the Crown Jewels, the Tower is protected by the famous Beefeaters, and the imposing palace has been used as a fortress and a prison throughout its history. Your guide will take you to Traitors Gate, where prisoners entered the Tower for the last time.

Next, take a leisurely cruise along the River Thames, passing Shakespeare’s Globe, Cleopatra’s Needle, and London Bridge, before arriving at Westminster Pier. Rejoin the bus and head for Buckingham Palace. Make your way to the perfect spot to watch the world famous Changing of the Guard ceremony as the soldiers, dressed in their fabulous tunics and busbies, march to military music.

  • Rating: 1 “very disorganised, poorly run tour with not much seen.”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Gravesend, United Kingdom on August 8, 2014 The tour was very poorly organised, with no guidance at the Victoria coach station meeting point. We were delayed leaving the station by almost 15 minutes, and we were barely on the bus before we were told to get off the bus with no explanation as to why. Our guide did not divulge any information as to the steps of the tour, and what he did say on the bus speakers was difficult to hear at best, when we were walking he would take off without any assistance as to where we were going and we spent a lot of time hoping we were following the right man. we had perhaps 6-8 locations pointed out to us in the whole time on the bus, no interesting facts at any point. The river cruise was also lacking information and we might as well have done a self guided walk along the river with a book as there was no information about the places we were passing as we went. and the return bus journey showed not a single new location. overall for myself and my parents a waste of 85 pounds. get a different tour!

  • Rating: 4 “Interesting sightseen trip around London landmarks”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI, Italy on June 3, 2014 Interesting sightseen trip around London landmarks on board a fantastic red double decker routemaster! The guide had a good knowledge and was never boring.
Our 38 people group enjoyed it.

Reviewed by Claudia from Guatemala, Guatemala on March 31, 2014 The only thing that I would suggest is adding the times for the change of guard on the website.

  • Rating: 4 “Bus tour fine but river trip disapointing as limited open air seating”

Reviewed by John from Moraira/Teulada, Spain on August 21, 2013 overall very good

  • Rating: 1 “doesn't get more boring than this”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from buchholz, Germany on July 2, 2013 we were supposed to spend 4 hours sightseeing, and we spent 2 hours of it waiting at various stops: Harrod's, Victoria Station, we were 10 minutes away from Buckingham Palace and waited because of the boat tour, which was just normal transport with 2 stops, without any additional information provided. This definitely wasn't worth the money, we didn't get picked up from the hotel (although we were supposed to), and we looked for the stops since there were only 2 places included for the entirety of London!

  • Rating: 5 “Perfect! Great tour”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Friedberg, Germany on June 1, 2013 Went wonderfully. Definitely recommend it.

  • Rating: 3 “was nice, but a bit shorter than we had expected. The boat tour is only an alibi”

Reviewed by Helmut on May 21, 2013 big difficulties finding the departure point. The description was imprecise. The tour was a bit hectic, the audio on the headphones didn't always match up with the pace of the ride. Apart from the the hostess was nice, and we got lucky with the weather :) The end at Harrods was unexpected, it seemed like a commercial promotion...

  • Rating: 5 “Fantastic!”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Abbotsford, Australia on March 5, 2013 This is a must do. We did this our first day in London, it not only showed you amazing places around London but also was great at getting to know the city and get your bearings.

  • Rating: 3 “By and large this was a very good tour.”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Halten, Switzerland on January 22, 2013 Started late/ the English-speaking guide on the Bus spoke too loudly for the people with headphones/ they didn't mention where the last station would be at the beginning. Some of the important information during the tour was only provided in English.

  • Rating: 3 “Great introduction to London”

Reviewed by Manuela from Wien, Austria on September 25, 2012 Booked from Vienna, all good. Sadly we couldn't find the meeting point. A really nice bus driver took us to the right place. We would have missed the bus otherwise. Unfortuantely the bus came too late. Otherwise the trip was lovely. The staff were really friendly too.

  • Rating: 3 “Too much unproductive time, mass treatment at the bus station”

Reviewed by Rosmarie from Herzogenbuchsee, Switzerland on September 17, 2012 We left close to our hotel at 7.10 am, picked up people all over the city, 8.00 met at the bus terminal, waited around till 8.45. Massive crowd of too many buses. Despite having booked it, no headphones with german translations. We wouldn't book this tour again.

Reviewed by Norma from Mörschwil, Switzerland on August 2, 2012 Everything went well, it was just a shame that it was in English, since we had booked the German version.

  • Rating: 4 “Perfect morning tour for getting to know London”

Reviewed by Roger from Rothrist, Switzerland on April 20, 2012 Perfect short, exciting morning tour for getting to know London. You see the most important attractions and get a first impression of the city. Friendly, competent guide with useful tips regarding attractions! The pickup from the hotel went without a problem. The tour is great for first-timers in London who don't know the place too well!

  • Rating: 3 “Only for people with a good knowledge of English!”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Hünenberg See, Switzerland on April 18, 2012 The guide could only speak English. The headphones didn't always work and sometimes the commentary for the wrong place came through them. Only in English when visiting things outside the bus.

  • Rating: 3 “Good, but could be better”

Reviewed by Miriam from Olten, Switzerland on March 6, 2012 The stop at the Tower was too short to visit the tower, but too long to just take photos. Also the stop at Buckingham Palace just for photos was too long. So it'd be better to plan stops at 2 or 3 additional places. We went past some things too fast to take photos or have a proper look at what the guide was talking about.

  • Rating: 5 “An absolute must! All amazing!”

Reviewed by Markus from Deutschlandsberg, Austria on February 4, 2012 Extremely friendly guide, very helpful, informative, most important sights covered, even lots of useful extra info, absolute must for anyone with not much time on their hands, perfectly organised! Totally recommend it!

  • Rating: 4 “The guide was 1st class, but the bus...”

Reviewed by Frank from Großrosseln, Germany on November 4, 2011 The nice and funny gentleman who took us on the tour was brilliant. The tour was very informative and we managed to see all the attractions. The only flaw was that we'd booked the tour with a german audio guide, because my carer can't speak any english. The tattered old bus (which was nice to look at), had technical problems with the audio system, and didn't really transmit anything but noise. But otherwise the tour was great and comes highly recommended. All the other participants were also totally happy with it!

  • Rating: 5 “Lovely!”

Reviewed by Jürgen from Altenstadt / HÖCHST, Germany on October 23, 2011 Very well organised, great guide!

  • Rating: 3 “Guide explained things brilliantly, traffic was awful, meeting point poorly described”

Reviewed by Ruedi from Morschach, Switzerland on October 12, 2011 The trip was well organised, the guide had very good knowledge and was easy to understand. We thought that we had booked it in German but the guide spoke English which required extra concentration.
Help with questions was given immediately. My 'average' is a bit too low but 'very good' would be too high, the rating should be somewhere in between.
    Best wishes

Reviewed by Rita from Homburg, Switzerland on September 26, 2011 The tour was good if you understand English. My daughter had understood some things when we got off the bus. But without translation it was too hard. Overall the tour was good though, you see lots of the city even if you only drive past some of them.

  • Rating: 5 “Great guide and great tour.”

Reviewed by Manuela from Grasbrunn-Neukeferloh, Germany on August 24, 2011 Everything worked out wonderfully with the tickets. A pickup from our hotel was unfortunately not possible. But the service offered us more possible locations to be picked up from. The tour was very good and we had an awesome tour guide who got us the best spot for the mounting of the guard.

  • Rating: 5 “Excellent”

Reviewed by Lukas from Kriens, Switzerland on May 11, 2011 We were rebooked for the next day after we missed our bus due to a U-Bahn outage. This tour was in English only. We had a very nice tour guide. It didn't matter to me that it was in English, since it meant he was able to ad-lib and joke with the passengers
