Located on the banks of the River Thames, Shakespeare’s Globe is a faithful reconstruction of the open-air playhouse designed in 1599, where many of Shakespeare’s plays were performed. Included in your 2-hour ticket is a self-guided visit to the theater’s exhibition, and a guided tour of the Globe Theatre auditorium.

Based under the Globe Theatre, the engaging exhibition explores the life of Shakespeare, the London where he lived, and the theater for which he wrote. Listen as expert storytellers provide fascinating facts about the auditorium, and vividly recreating colorful stories of the 1599 Globe, as well as the reconstruction process of the 1990s.

During the 40-minute guided tour, you will see how the "Wooden O" works today as an imaginative and experimental space. Tours are conducted in English, and free information sheets are provided in French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese.

The guided tour was fabulous, she was very knowledgeable and funny. It was also good to see so many children/ school groups enjoying the tour and exhibition.
  The only down side is - it is a very expensive place to shop or buy lunch, and this was also the case at Kensington Palace. I suppose its the price you pay for spending a day in London.

She knew her stuff and I left knowing so much more about the theatre and people of Shakesphere's time. The museum is nice but it is even nicer to get outside into the actual theatre. The day we visited was perfect 70 degree weather with the sun shining. I was sorry we didn't have enough advance time to book a play there. I imagine the experience is beyond fun. Maybe next trip.
