Tour passengers meet at 06:00 at the Hanalei headquarters on Kuhio Highway 560, in Hanalei Town. This is a chance for you to meet your guides. To ensure your safety the tour operates with a ratio of 1 guide to every 6 people. From here you will be transported to the coast where you are kitted out and briefed on the safety guidelines. For your paddling ease, speed and comfort, ‘sit on top’ two person plastic sea kayaks with foot controlled rudders and ample back rests are provided.
The morning involves kayaking beyond the lush valley of Kalalau and the natural arch of Honopu. Honopu is the tallest arch in Hawaii and a marvel of the natural world. At this point expect to meet dolphins, birds, and if you are lucky, the elusive monk seal! The secluded beach at Miloli’I is the next stop. Miloli’I is one of the last Hawaiian fishing villages and offers an insight to the Hawaiian way of life. Here you are treated to a deli-style lunch and a few hours of much deserved rest. You are free to bathe, beach comb and visit an old Hawaiian fishing heiau (shrine).
The afternoon brings more kayaking along Kauai’s stunning cliffs. The final destination is the Polihale State Park where the magnificent cliffs transform into sand dunes. Here you can shower and change clothes. A van will be waiting to transport you back to Hanalei. After completing the tour you will be issued a Na Pali Sea Kayak Diploma. Frame it and hang it on your wall, and do not forget to add this qualification to your resume! This is a rigorous adventure involving around 5-6 hours of paddling. Participants are required to be physically fit, comfortable in water and not prone to seasickness.
