“A memorable experience in so many ways”
Reviewed by David from Hout Bay, South Africa on March 25th, 2014 Van was terrific. The trip to the market was so interesting and her knowledge of ingredients and how to cook was inspiring. She has a great sense of fun and perfect English, This is THE class to go to if you can get in. It is hands on and only 10 per class which lasts from around 9.15 to 3pm. Everyone makes a different dish and you get to taste each others once the dish has been prepared. No washing up either! That is done by a team of helpers. At the end you get a book of recipes plus a few other nice gifts. Collected from and returned to your hotel. We would definitely go back.
“If you only do one cooking class this is it!”
Reviewed by Sally from Syydney, Australia on March 3rd, 2014 Van was the best teacher, remembered everyones name, we all chose a dish and went to the marke,t without making a list she bought all the ingredients, went to her house and individually made our dish then we all ate our creations. She hugged us all as we reluctantly left,I wanted to stay for dinner!
“The best Vietnamese cooking experience you can get .”
Reviewed by Howard from New Rochelle, United States on November 1st, 2013 If you want to learn how to shop, prepare, and cook Vietnamese food , Van is your teacher and Green Bamboo is your school. You will experience every aspect of preparation and cooking in a group of up to ten. Each person chooses and prepares a different dish, which you will taste. The only warning I give is make sure you fast for at least a day before the class as you will want to taste(and not a small taste) every delicious dish made. Van will put you at ease and teach you the intricacies to cook these dishes in your home.
“Fabulous day, highly recommended”

“Fantastic day made even better by our gracious host Van”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Yarraville, Australia on July 10th, 2013 An informative and fun day which began with the sights and sounds of daily market shopping followed by a hands on cooking lesson led by the wonderful Van. Nothing was too much bother as Van led us all through the preparation and cooking of each dish we'd individually chosen. Food was abundant and the flavours amazing - a highlight of our trip.
“Great cooking experience with a lovely teacher - Highly recommended!”
Reviewed by Harriet from London, United Kingdom on May 22nd, 2013 We were lucky enough to get Van all to ourselves for half a day and she looked after us well. She took us around the market in Hoi An, showing us different foods and buying our ingredients. The rest of the morning was spent cooking (and eating!) some delicious creations. Van's instruction was spot on and the learning is hands on. We are now looking forward to having some friends round for a Vietnamese dinner party this weekend! :)

Reviewed by David from Malvern East, Australia on April 21st, 2013 We really enjoyed the whole experience, from shopping at the market, enjoying a local coffee, and then preparing our chosen dishes. The end result was a beautiful 9 course meal. We were entertained, educated in local ingredients and cooking techniques over about a 7 hour period ......great value! Van is a fantastic host and teacher.
“A great fun experince”
Reviewed by David from HAZELWOOD PARK, Australia on April 4th, 2013 We booked this tour based on Tripadvisor reviews.
In true personal service, Van came in the taxi to pick us up at our hotel and took us to the small tour bus at another hotel.
Our group had 9 participants, which led to a long, but thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding day.
It was great fun buying the food at the market, then helping each other during the food preparation phase, and finally watching each participant cook their chosen dish.
With nine dishes to be cooked in turn and sampled, we did not finish until 4pm. However, as the group got on well with each other and with Van, the time simply flew. The stomach, however, was a little overtaxed, as you felt compelled to taste each delicious dish.
We would definitely do it again.
“Hands on course, Van is great cook and very nice”

A great lunch. Tip: do not have too much breakfast there will be plenty to eat
As the cooking is done. Don' wear good shoes as it is
A bit sloppy around the fish market .such a good experience.
Worth the cost.
“A great way to spend a morning. Learnt some great recipes”
Reviewed by Gene from clifton hill, Australia on September 21st, 2012 met some great people. Van was patient and enthusiastic and the food was awesome.
Starts with a trip to the market and then you go back to Van's house to cook and eat. I particularly like that it wasn't in a restaurant and the groups are kept to 6 people max.
A lot of fun and a great way to spend a morning
“Well worth it!”
Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from sydney, Australia on May 21st, 2012 This cooking class was one of the highlights of our Vietnam trip. It was personal (no more than 6 in the group) friendly, inclusive of all members and we actually got to choose what dishes to cook, (no usual spring rolls etc). Van was a gracious host and knowledgeable cook, helping us to create our dishes and joining us in the afternoon to sit down and share the feast. Roaming the market with her in the morning was an invaluable experience. Thankyou!
Reviewed by Jo-Ann from Rosanna, Australia on January 19th, 2014 Great day. Great food. It was so much fun and Van is the best.
