What to Expect

A day at the Green Bamboo Cooking School in Hoi An will give you something you can take home and really impress your friends and family with. Experienced cooks who want to learn new techniques and amateur chefs looking for a fun day out will all find what they are looking for.

Go with Chef Van to the local market and buy the ingredients for the dish you selected in advance. Here, you will learn a lot about local produce. From the market you head to the school, located in Van's beautiful house, where she will teach the group to make the selected dishes. There will be plenty of hands-on participation!

After everything is prepared, relax and enjoy the lunch you created, and that you can create again after you get home.

Amazing - fantastic

Wonderful day with the remarkable Vinn. Superb cuisine shared with lovely people from all over the world.

A wonderful inter-active cultural, and social Vietnamese experience.

The Green Bamboo Cooking Class was much, much more than we expected and was great value for money. Our hostess, Van, gave us a choice of dishes to cook, then took us [8 people] to the local market to buy the required ingredients, giving us an interesting and informative explanation as she shopped on our behalf. We then stopped at a local café for a cool drink or coffee of our choice before going to her beautifully appointed house and kitchen to prepare and cook our meals. The preparation was 'hands-on' and was heaps of fun. Van had three delightful young kitchen staff [silent and efficient] who sorted the raw foodstuff into their appropriate dish groupings. Drinks of our choice were provided as we 'worked'. After every person had completed their dish preparation, we each took turn cooking and sharing our dish around buffet style. Van had prepared a delicious dessert which was served with rice vodka - Yeah! In summary - a highlight of our 18 days in Vietnam. Highly recommended !

Best experience

Van runs a great course with great Vietnamese recipes to try , fun from beginning to end. Visiting the market well worth it. Each person takes their turn cooking their dish and sharing with the othws. Highly recommended. Do not eat too much for breakfast and you won't want to eat again that day,, Would do again

A memorable experience in so many ways

Van was terrific. The trip to the market was so interesting and her knowledge of ingredients and how to cook was inspiring. She has a great sense of fun and perfect English, This is THE class to go to if you can get in. It is hands on and only 10 per class which lasts from around 9.15 to 3pm. Everyone makes a different dish and you get to taste each others once the dish has been prepared. No washing up either! That is done by a team of helpers. At the end you get a book of recipes plus a few other nice gifts. Collected from and returned to your hotel. We would definitely go back.

If you only do one cooking class this is it!

Van was the best teacher, remembered everyones name, we all chose a dish and went to the marke,t without making a list she bought all the ingredients, went to her house and individually made our dish then we all ate our creations. She hugged us all as we reluctantly left,I wanted to stay for dinner!
