Go with Chef Van to the local market and buy the ingredients for the dish you selected in advance. Here, you will learn a lot about local produce. From the market you head to the school, located in Van's beautiful house, where she will teach the group to make the selected dishes. There will be plenty of hands-on participation!
After everything is prepared, relax and enjoy the lunch you created, and that you can create again after you get home.

She hugged us all as we reluctantly left,I wanted to stay for dinner!

You will experience every aspect of preparation and cooking in a group of up to ten. Each person chooses and prepares a different dish, which you will taste. The only warning I give is make sure you fast for at least a day before the class as you will want to taste(and not a small taste) every delicious dish made. Van will put you at ease and teach you the intricacies to cook these dishes in your home.

Nothing was too much bother as Van led us all through the preparation and cooking of each dish we'd individually chosen. Food was abundant and the flavours amazing - a highlight of our trip.

She took us around the market in Hoi An, showing us different foods and buying our ingredients. The rest of the morning was spent cooking (and eating!) some delicious creations. Van's instruction was spot on and the learning is hands on. We are now looking forward to having some friends round for a Vietnamese dinner party this weekend! :)

The end result was a beautiful 9 course meal. We were entertained, educated in local ingredients and cooking techniques over about a 7 hour period ......great value! In true personal service, Van came in the taxi to pick us up at our hotel and took us to the small tour bus at another hotel.
Our group had 9 participants, which led to a long, but thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding day.
It was great fun buying the food at the market, then helping each other during the food preparation phase, and finally watching each participant cook their chosen dish.
With nine dishes to be cooked in turn and sampled, we did not finish until 4pm. However, as the group got on well with each other and with Van, the time simply flew. The stomach, however, was a little overtaxed, as you felt compelled to taste each delicious dish.
We would definitely do it again.

Starts with a trip to the market and then you go back to Van's house to cook and eat. I particularly like that it wasn't in a restaurant and the groups are kept to 6 people max.

It was personal (no more than 6 in the group) friendly, inclusive of all members and we actually got to choose what dishes to cook, (no usual spring rolls etc). Van was a gracious host and knowledgeable cook, helping us to create our dishes and joining us in the afternoon to sit down and share the feast.
