Overview:

Explore the wetlands of the Everglades from Fort Lauderdale with a naturalist guide. Learn about wild flora and fauna on Florida’s wildest eco-tour. Every tour includes a wildlife drive, nature walk, delicious lunch, airboat ride and boat cruise.

Description:

Explore the subtropical wilderness of the Everglades on Florida’s finest eco-tour with the Everglades Day Safari. The safari includes narrated transportation from Fort Lauderdale to the four main ecosystems of the Everglades.

First take a 40-minute airboat ride through the sawgrass prairie of the Everglades. Here you will see alligators, turtles and dozens of species of birds. Then watch an alligator show that delves into the natural history of the crocodilians of Florida.

Enjoy a wildlife drive in the Big Cypress National Preserve after the show. Tour the sawgrass prairies of the Everglades backcountry. Alligators, turtles and birds abound in front of a backdrop that is reminiscent of the great plains of Africa.
Next, take a nature walk through an ancient forest of towering cypress. This area is home to bromiliads, orchids and a variety of colorfully adorned flora.

During the afternoon break you will enjoy an excellent lunch at a waterside restaurant in the heart of the Everglades. You will be offered alligator appetizers in addition to several delicious lunch entrees or an all-you-can-eat salad bar with peel-and-eat shrimp.

Relax and check out the scenery aboard a 90-minute boat cruise after lunch. The cruise navigates the shallow, mangrove-lined waters of the 10,000 Islands in the Everglades National Park. Manatees, sea turtles, dolphins, osprey and a variety of other marine life thrive here.

Tours depart daily with several convenient pickups at many hotels along Fort Lauderdale Beach and Fort Lauderdale starting at 7:15 am. Tours are limited to small groups and reservations are required.

  • Rating: 4 “you will get your money's worth with this tour”

Reviewed by Abraham from Union, United States on December 29th, 2013 unfortunately the day we took the Safari it was pouring all day long. Luckily we had a knowledgeable tour guide, named Norman, who filled us with interesting facts and tidbits about the state of Florida and its wildlife.

  • Rating: 5 “Very informative”

Reviewed by Richard from Reading, United Kingdom on March 11th, 2012 We were collected on time at the agreed location. Jason was a charming informative guide who also drove very well. He knew the location, the wildlife, and the best places to view and get close to nature. We had an airboat trip first, with it's own guide, pointing out alligators, turtles and a number of different birds. Then we went on a short walking trip - perhaps too short - but we saw a venemous cottonmouth snake, a number of orchids, and spiders - lovely. Lunch offered several selections of which the shrimp and salad was excellent. The afternoon involved a boat trip out into the 10,000 island area, on which we saw a dolphin and a number of different birds living amongst the mangroves. Between these excursions, if Jason saw anything of interest, and he had eyes everywhere, he stopped and told us about them. I can't believe how many alligators we saw. He was full of information about the history and ecosystem of the Everglades and it's inhabitants.
    Overall - brilliant tour

  • Rating: 5 “Wenn man Florida besucht, ist diese Tour ein "Must Have"!!!”

Reviewed by Jörg from Wustrow, Germany on December 6th, 2013 Perfekte Organisation, ausreichend Zeit und komfortabeler Transport.
