Overview:

Enjoy an unforgettable day in Tuscany! Visit the charming medieval towns of Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni and discover the beauty of the Chianti countryside landscape. This tour features delicious local wines.

Description:

Visit three medieval towns and the Chianti area in one day on this tour.

First, you will cross the beautiful Chianti hills as you ride south from Florence in an air-conditioned GT Coach. You will arrive at San Gimignano, a medieval town declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. San Gimignano is famous for its white wine, the world-renowned Vernaccia, and its skyscrapers! Take time to wind your way through the narrow streets and admire the landscape.

Your tour will make its second stop in Siena. Here you will find the Piazza del Campo, famous for the Palio Horse Race and for its splendid examples of Gothic civic architecture. You can also visit the magnificent Palazzo Pubblico with its Torre del Mangia.

Continuing south, the tour will make a stop in Monteriggioni, where the medieval city walls remain intact. The main piazza, the Piazza Roma, is the perfect place to savor the history of the town and relive the atmosphere of olden times - while enjoying a well-earned ice-cream!

Finally, the tour heads to the Chianti area, where you will enjoy postcard-perfect landscapes. Conclude your day at a famous wine estate where you can taste fine Chianti red wine along with homemade snacks.

  • Rating: 2 “Rushed. Not enough time in Monteri. & Chianti. 2 much time in Gimigna”

Reviewed by Elizabeth – East Longmeadow, United States on June 10, 2015 Telephone operators were extremely helpful and will go out of their way to accommodate your needs. If the guide on the bus is "Frederica" be prepared for someone bossy and with an attitude. Always reminding you to hurry up. Perhaps she forgets that senior citizens can't walk as fast. She also didn't have a microphone, we all had to gathered close to her to hear what she said. She didn't like to repeat herself, when a question was asked, she gave short answers and said: "let's continue." 3 minutes into the bus ride back, I realized I left my camera on the wine tasting table, she was annoyed that I had to go back and get it, although all the passengers understood. On the plus side, Claudia, the tour guide at the square was knowledgeable, had a microphone, and gave a comprehensive description of what we were looking at, and the history of the town. I was looking forward to this tour, but ended up being disappointed. Perhaps with a different tour guide it would be better. Good luck

  • Rating: 4 “A very nice trip”

Reviewed by Eilif – Oslo, Norway on April 18, 2015 This trip was very interesting and a lot to see in just one day. To make this trip even better, the tour operator could reduce the time i Siena by 30 minutes and add 15 minutes to Monteriggioni and 15 minutes to San Gimignano.
Only one thing missing in this GetYourGuide booking, we had to call the tour company to arrange the included free pick up from our hotel. If you do not know and just book the tour from this site, you will probably not be picked up, instead you will have a nice walk to the departure point.

  • Rating: 4 “It was a very nice tour.”

Reviewed by Maria – Irving, United States on March 15, 2015 We enjoyed the tour. We got to see a little bit of the different parts of Tuscany. We had ample time in each town to take photos and shop a little. The guide was very good in explaining the history of each town which made it more interesting. And the wine tasting was a very nice way to end the tour. The only negative that I can say is that we were expecting some cold meat and cheese served during the wine tasting as described in the wine tasting activity but there was only bread.
