Overview:

Enjoy a full-day tour of Tuscany’s villages and wine regions from Florence and travel into the heart of the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Visit the town of San Gimignano, the wine territory of Chianti, and the medieval town of Siena.

Description:

Explore the heart of beautiful Tuscany on a full-day tour of the towns of San Gimignano and Siena, then discover the bucolic wine region of Chianti. Departing from Florence by luxury air-conditioned bus, your first stop will be the UNESCO World Heritage Site of San Gimignano, one of the most splendid examples of an Italian medieval town.

Distinguished by its famous towered skyline, San Gimignano stands along the Via Francigena on the hills of the Upper Val D’Elsa. Also famous for its Vernaccia di San Gimignano wine, saffron, and precious Santa Fina pottery, it is an excellent place to get acquainted with the Tuscan environment. You will enjoy some free time to stroll through the town on your own and explore its beautiful squares, architecture, churches, and side streets.

In the afternoon you will tour the Chianti Classico area, taking in charming scenic views. Here you will have the pleasure of touring a famous wine estate where Chianti Classico, oil, balsamic vinegar, and aromatic herbs are all produced. Enjoy a delicious lunch of sliced cold meats, bruschetta, salami, pasta, and cheeses.

Continue to Siena for a guided tour of its enchanting architectural styles, including the Cathedral and Palazzo Comunale (Municipal Building) in Piazza del Campo. The famous shell-shaped square provides the stage for the thrilling Palio horse race, run twice every summer.

  • Rating: 5 “Great family day trip”

Reviewed by Beth from Nashville, United States on January 16, 2015 This was an easy way to see a lot in a day! We were able to relax a little on the bus drive (and not have to worry about a car, directions, where to go, park) and hop off the bus to see a variety of places. Having a tour guide for a little bit in Sienna was wonderful and then having time to walk around on our own with our family was great too. It was nice having all of this set up for us and the day was really worth it!

  • Rating: 4 “Fun and relaxing trip!”

Reviewed by Rui from Long Island City, United States on January 10, 2015 Liked the places we visited but the pace could be faster. It didn't need 11h long.

  • Rating: 4 “Great day out”

Reviewed by Katie from Lindfield, Australia on January 3, 2015 This is a great tour to get a taste for Tuscany. There was plenty of time in some areas but for me it would have been great to have more time in Siena before things closed.
Highlight was the lunch & tastings at winery in Chianti

  • Rating: 3 “Lluvia”

Reviewed by Cecilia from Guatemala, Guatemala on December 29, 2014 Nice but you should have something planned for raining days we cannot saw everything as well as it supouse to be
    But it was nice

  • Rating: 4 “beautiful views”

Reviewed by a GetYourGuide Customer from Jakarta, Indonesia on November 20, 2014 Beautiful views along the trip.
Guide could have been more informative in San Gimignano rather than just letting us explore ourselves.
The visit to a snack shop at the end of day was unnecessary.
