About GetYourGuide
The Idea
The traditional way of selling local travel services to tourists was either going through many layers of intermediaries or hoping customers might find your website via search engines.
So we set out to create a modern marketplace for suppliers of tours, attractions & activities where customers can search, compare and book your products all on one platform. The biggest difference to existing solutions is that we give you full control over your products and also let you use your own brands to market your services. GetYourGuide is a distribution platform, marketing platform and a content management system at the same time.
In addition we work with online distribution partners to increase your customer reach. Our distribution partners include major online travel agencies, national tourism boards, hotel platforms, online travel communities, and more.
About the Company
GetYourGuide Inc. is a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). Founded in January 2008, GetYourGuide is headquartered in the Technopark in Zurich, Switzerland. Our team is spread over Zurich, London and Las Vegas. Since 2009 GetYourGuide is supported by the Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) and the Swiss government's innovation promotion agency CTI.
GetYourGuide is an official member of the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA).

Johannes Reck
Johannes is CEO and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He graduated with distinction from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology with a Master's degree in Biochemistry. While still in university, he successfully led the company to its first venture capital round. After a brief interlude as Visiting Associate at the Boston Consulting Group, he decided to join GetYourGuide as CEO in June 2009. As far as his work allows him, he likes to play double bass and hike in the Alps. -
Pascal Mathis
Pascal is COO and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He holds a MSc in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich. Pascal is the good soul of the company and a hands-on guy who takes care of finance and all operational tasks. Before joining GetYourGuide he was president of the leading Swiss student consulting company ETH juniors and worked at Siemens Mobility as product manager. Active since childhood, you often see him doing things from paragliding to cliff diving. -
Tobias Rein
Tobias is CTO and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He holds a Master's degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich and a Master of Advanced Studies in Secondary and Higher Education. Tobi is usually the first to arrive in the morning and because the business team members don't really understand what exactly he's doing to the system, except that it works, he is often referred to as the wizard of coding. In his free time, he plays in a well-known local rock band. -
Martin Sieber
Martin is head of web design and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He graduated with a Master of Science in Biology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in May 2009. Because his daily work revolves around playing around with colors and CSS properties, the business team constantly envies him for being able to create those "wow, that looks cool" moments. Apart from having a obsession for funky sunglasses, he loves skiing in deep powder and climbing really high mountains. -
Jochen Mattes
Jochen is chief database architect and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He is currently pursuing a degree in electrical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Since writing GetYourGuide's first line of code to devising our latest search algorithms, he has been steadily maintaining his reputation as the proverbial IT wunderkind. In spite of his IT artistry, Jochen has quite wordly passions including fast cars and other things. -
Tao Tao
Tao is VP Product and co-founder of GetYourGuide. He graduated cum laude in economics from Tilburg University. Before starting GetYourGuide, he has studied and worked in China, Switzerland and the Netherlands, and presided over ETH juniors, a leading European student consulting company. Whenever he is not thinking up witty texts or looking for more cool tours to add to the website, he likes to read the Economist and play soccer. -
Philipe Fatio
Philipe joined the team as an intern in 2008 and now works in web design. He is currently studying mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich. After being scouted for his wondrous skills in interface design, he was quickly hired as GetYourGuide's first employee straight out of high school. With his immaculate attention to detail, he is responsible for the look and feel of the website. Apart from university and work, he likes to play soccer and stay up-to-date with the latest technologies. -
Kevin Pfaffhauser
Kevin joined the team in December 2009 and now works in our IT development team. He has been responsible for turning our CRM software into a fully featured administration tool that can do everything besides making coffee. He also worked on our supplier blog and travel blog for customers. Whenever he is not accommodating yet another feature request from the business team, he likes to play soccer or explore the Swiss countryside with the boy scouts.
