What to Expect

"There is only one essential ingredient in a ghost story: death." So say Charlestonians Ed Macy and Geordie Buxton in their introduction to their book about the haunted streets of Charleston.

By rambling through the oft-forgotten enclaves of the Holy City, the paranormal authors bring guests face to face with a group of orphans who haunt a dorm of a Charleston College, a Citadel cadet who haunts a local hotel, and an angelic spirit in a Scottish Presbyterian graveyard, to name just a few.

We will hear tales of a bookstore phantom, notorious for rearranging books in perfect vertical stacks, and a gruesome 19th century amputation taking place in a medical student’s apartment. This tour is not for the faint-hearted!

Based on historical events and specific details that are often lost in our general notion of ghosts, each haunting encounter will send chills down your spine.

very interesting

very interesting, our group ranged in age 18-50 and it held everyone's attention

It was very informative and entertaining.

The guy who conducted the tour was very well versed in Charleston history and had some really interesting stories. He knows his stuff and seemed to be friendly with a lot of people working at the local businesses while we were on the tour. It was way better than listening to someone just regurgitate information, small company and highly recommended.

Great tour and you get to go inside the sites where the ghosts reside.

I have been on others ghost tours which were great as well; however, I never got to go inside of the sites where the ghosts appear. Great historical facts on what occurred and how many ghosts were reported at each site. The original Citadel, as well as the Francis Marion Hotel, were 2 of the historical sites in Charleston that were visited. Great tour. Geordie Buxton was an excellent tour guide as well!!

Good time for all ages!

We bought the groupon, which was basically a two for one. I called with questions and Lee was very friendly and professional. We met for the tour, and it was a very good time. A little history for the adults and a little spooky for the teens. I highly recommend Walks in History!

Very informative tour!

Me and my daughter were in Charleston on vacation. I picked this ghost tour from Trip Advisor after reading the great reviews. We went on the Saturday, 7/18 10pm night tour. We had a blast and learned some great history! Geordie was very knowlegeable and even added humor into the mix. Time well spent!
