Explore the island town of Tigre on Argentina’s Paraná Delta and sail the web of interconnecting streams and rivers. Visit the local market and historical town center, and enjoy lunch at a riverside setting.
Located approximately 17 miles (27 kilometers) north of Buenos Aires, Tigre is set on an island created by flooding, and was first founded in 1820. Now an upmarket resort and weekend retreat for Buenos Aires residents, the watery streets are lined with upscale hotels, spas and restaurants, as well as yacht clubs and rowing clubs.
You will be taken to the San Isidro area to visit the town’s historical center. Continue to the port and board a launch to navigate the serene channels and streams of the delta. Back on dry land, enjoy an exquisite lunch at a riverside restaurant.
You will get free time to stroll the market and canal paths of the handsome town. Named after the jaguars that once prowled the area, today Tigre has an almost British character, with mock Tudor, half-timbered and Victorian buildings, adding to its sense of grace.
