Come explore the fascinating and beautiful capital city of Hungary! Budapest, rich in culture and history, is proud to display its natural beauty and man-made treasures.
The river Danube, flowing between Buda, on the west band, and Pest, on the east bank, is a classic beauty. Consider an evening cruise on the Danube to fully appreciate the charm of the city at night.
Folk dancing is a passion in Hungary. Folklore ensembles have been performing for over sixty years, and showcase choreography based on dances dating back hundreds of years and collected throughout Hungary. You'll better understand the cultural heritage of Hungarians in costumes, dances, and music.
Sightseeing musts include a visit to Matthias Church, over 700 years old, and a repository of much of Hungary's history. As the scene of several coronations (including, most recently, the last Hapsburg king in 1916), the church was also selected as the site for royal weddings. When the Turks later occupied Budapest, the church became the main mosque of the city.
Another must-see in the Castle District is the ambiance of Fisherman's Bastion. This site takes its name from the Middle Ages – a fishermen's guild was responsible for defending this section of city wall. The terrace itself was designed and built in the late 19th century. Enjoy the stunning view afforded you from this vantage point.
