Argentina

No trip to Argentina would be complete without a visit to the beautiful capital city of Buenos Aires. With its European architecture, diverse neighborhoods, and numerous attractions, this Spanish-speaking city has something for everyone.

When in Buenos Aires, Tango! Tango, which was designated a world heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2009, was born in the poor districts of Buenos Aires. Visitors to Buenos Aires can take tango lessons, enjoy a delicious dinner, and dance the night away at one of the many tango clubs located in the La Boca neighborhood.

Sports fans will want to visit the home fields of the rival soccer teams Boca Juniors and River Plate. Located in La Boca and the Belgrano districts, respectively, both stadiums feature museums and tours are available which will take you into preferential seating and other privileged areas.

Visitors should take advantage of their time in Buenos Aires by learning some Spanish. Short courses are available which will teach basics of the language and culture. Learning a little Spanish will make a visit to Argentina even more fulfilling.

The areas outside the city of Buenos Aires are well worth exploring. Day trips to Argentine ranches, or estancias, often feature horse riding, authentic meals, and the opportunity to watch gauchos at work. Another nearby trip is to the island town of Tigre. Tigre is a popular getaway for residents of Buenos Aires and is home to The Naval Museum, numerous rowing clubs, and lavish mansions.
