On this 3-hour tour you’ll visit the oldest parts of Amsterdam and wander along the small streets and canals that make this city unique. Amsterdam is very popular with tourists and the crowds are quite large at times, but this private, small-group tour will ensure that your experience is a personal one!

It is a private tour, no other people will join the booked tour. The itinerary can be customized in line with the interests of the group as well!

You’ll meet your guide and begin the tour at Dam Square, the central point in Amsterdam. From here you’ll walk along some of the most beautiful canals and quaint streets of the old city. Your guide will tell you about the areas you visit and answer any of your questions about the city.

Along the walk you’ll hear stories about Amsterdam’s expansion during the 17th century, when the city was becoming increasingly famous in the arts, sciences, and architecture. You’ll also learn about the merchants who made this a cornerstone of the global trade market.

There will be time to stop at the flea market to look at the goods on offer. Your guide will also tell you about how the city has become a leader in free thought and social thinking.

  • Rating: 4 “Nice and Informative”

Reviewed by Naresh Kumar from Bangalore, India on May 10th, 2013 The amsterdam walking tour we experienced with Mr. Gerk has been good. Our guide took us through the important places of Amsterdam (Dam square and surroundings) and provided sufficient information for us to understand the importance of each place. He was very nice in his communication and has been vvery cordial. I would recommend Mr. Gerk for everyone visiting Amsterdam.

  • Rating: 5 “Holland Personal Guide”

Reviewed by Gail from Eagan, United States on November 17th, 2012 Gerk was great. He met us, on time, and walked us through Amsterdam, while telling us so much about the history of the city and pointing out the architectural details and interesting facts, you would never get in a traditional tour.

  • Rating: 5 “My Amsterdam private walking tour was the best tour ever!”

Reviewed by Zabrina from Marietta, United States on October 28th, 2012 My Amsterdam private walking tour by Holland Personal Tour Guide with Mr. Kazemier was the best tour I have had in a very long time. I toured the city of Amsterdam while learning interesting and little known historical facts that you just do not get while touring on your own or with large groups. Mr. Kazemier was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and a joy to listen to while touring. I will definitely be using Holland Personal Tour Guide again.

  • Rating: 5 “Informative, very friendly and engaging”

Reviewed by Marion from Limeshain, Germany on September 3rd, 2012 During our tour, which lasted over 3 hours, Mr. Gerk Kazemier taught us a lot about Amsterdam's and Holland's history as we viewed buildings and other kinds of sights, using stories to embellish the descriptions. It was so intense that we really got a great 'feel' for the city. Thanks very much, again!

  • Rating: 4 “a nice tour of a cool city”

Reviewed by Franziska from Demen, Germany on July 30th, 2012 Our tour guide, a nice older man, led us through the historical old city in a wonderful way. A few more jokes would have made the whole thing a bit livelier. However I found the tour to be very easy to understand and successful.

  • Rating: 5 “Perfect!”

Reviewed by Horst from Winnerath, Germany on July 25th, 2012 All of our expectations for a successful tour were fulfilled: our guide answered our questions in an exemplary and very nice way.

  • Rating: 5 “very informative, very nice and professional guide”

Reviewed by Frank from Bielefeld, Germany on July 20th, 2012 Our guide was really, really nice and was able to tell us so many interesting things about Amsterdam. He always had our interests and preferences in mind and was able to tailor his tour to them!

  • Rating: 5 “This was a very informative and nice city tour.”

Reviewed by Heike from Esgrus, Germany on July 12th, 2012 We walked through the city together and had a lovely afternoon. The guide provided a ton of information about the development of the city and of certain buildings. I can definitely recommend it.

  • Rating: 4 “Highly informative tour of the Old City with no stress; recommend it!”

Reviewed by Stefan from München, Germany on July 11th, 2012 This tour is worth every penny. Our Amsterdam guide Gerk, a onetime teacher, who worked in the north of Holland, moved to Amsterdam and chose to become a trainee at a small hotel (to break into the tourism industry) and now leads individual tours, paid attention to every guest, offers to take breaks throughout and doesn't closely monitor the precise length of the tour. On the first day he brought us a lot closer to this unbelievably interesting city and laid the foundations for our sympathy for it. You can always discuss current events and the way things are viewed in Holland (for example the Euro or soccer ;) ) with him. You just shouldn't be a Rotterdam fan- despite his advanced age he never was one and never will be. You notice his die-hard love of Amsterdam, which he does a good job spreading: he lives the motto I AMSTERDAM!

  • Rating: 5 “Highly recommend!!”

Reviewed by Sarah from Birmingham, United States on June 17th, 2012 I highly recommend Gerk's tour of Amsterdam. We did the 3 hour walking tour and it was fantastic. Email communication with Gerk prior to tour was very prompt. He has a great knowledge of the city and its history. Would love to do one of his day tours next time we're in Amsterdam!

Reviewed by Brigitte from Amsterdam, Netherlands on March 10th, 2013 Ich wohne schon einige Zeit in Amsterdam und mir daher schon sehr viel angesehen. Weiter so!!
