Explore the oldest parts of Amsterdam on a privately guided walking tour. You’ll follow historical paths and see the important monuments of a city that was once considered the center of the world. You’ll also learn what makes it a world-class city today.

On this 3-hour tour you’ll visit the oldest parts of Amsterdam and wander along the small streets and canals that make this city unique. Amsterdam is very popular with tourists and the crowds are quite large at times, but this private, small-group tour will ensure that your experience is a personal one! No other people will join the booked tour.

You’ll meet your guide and begin the tour at Dam Square, the central point in Amsterdam. From here you’ll walk along some of the most beautiful canals and quaint streets of the old city. Your guide will tell you about the areas you visit and answer any of your questions about the city.

Along the walk you’ll hear stories about Amsterdam’s expansion during the 17th century, when the city was becoming increasingly famous in the arts, sciences, and architecture. You’ll also learn about the merchants who made this a cornerstone of the world. Your guide will also tell you about how the city has become a leader in free thought and social thinking.

    “Wonderful Walking Tour!”

Reviewed by Robyn – Abilene, United States on May 17, 2015 My husband and I loved this half-day walking tour. We learned so much about Amsterdam and the history on this walk with Gerk. He is very friendly and we even stopped to get a cup of coffee along the way. We had some wonderful conversations with him and he provided lot of interesting points about how Amsterdam and the US are connected. I would definitely do any of Gerk's tours again!

    “Interesting walk in old Amsterdam”

Reviewed by Carmen – Tokyo, Japan on April 28, 2015 We had a lot of fun walking along the canals and narrow streets of old Amsterdam with Peter, who entertained us with interesting facts and stories about the history, people and architecture of the city. Peter was adept at tailoring the tour to our interests, walking speed, need for coffee break, etc. We greatly enjoyed the tour and learned a lot from it.
