Venture overland from Addis Ababa on this 9-day cultural safari in the Omo Valley. Witness the cultures of the Konso, Mursi, Hamer, and other remote tribes of Ethiopia. See the abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery of Africa's Great Rift Valley.
This extraordinary 9-day tour takes you through the heart of this vast and varied cultural melting pot, where you will be privileged to witness age-old customs and rituals as you meet (amongst other tribes) the Karo, the Mursi, and Hamer peoples. The Omo Valley is also home to several national parks where you will encounter wildlife such as buffalo, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, zebra, and the elusive lion.
This is Africa as it once was, and its mere existence is at once wonderful and scarcely believable – truly a trip of a lifetime.
Day 1: Addis Ababa (Meals: D)
Upon arrival in Addis Ababa you will be met by our representative at Bole International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Tour historical sites in Addis Ababa including the National Archaeological Museum, the Ethnological Museum at Addis Ababa University, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and Mount Entoto.
: Addis Ababa – Arba Minch (Meals: B, D)
Drive to Arba Minch via Wolayta Sodo. En route visit the Wolita and Alaba people. Overnight at a hilltop hotel overlooking Lake Chamo, Abaya, and Nech Sar National Park .
Day 3: Arba Minch – Nech Sar National Park – Arba Minch (Meals: B, D)
Morning drive to Nech Sar for game viewing and birdwatching; afternoon boat trip on Lake Chamo.
Day 4: Arba Minch – Jinka (Meals: B, D)
Drive to Konso where colorful costume dresses, impressive terracing of the land, and unusually engraved wooden statues used as grave markers can be seen. Further along the route, visit the Woito people that live around Woito River and Tsemay village. Continue to Jinka for overnight at a hotel.
Day 5: Jinka – Mursi – Jinka (Meals: B, L)
Drive to Mursi village to experience the culture of the Mursi tribe who are renowned for their traditions of lip plates worn by women, and fierce stick fighting between men. Proceed to Mago National Park. After a picnic lunch, enjoy a game drive to see large mammals and different species of birds.
Day 6: Jinka – Demeka – Jinka (Meals: B, L)
Drive to Dimeka for a visit to the market of the Hamer people. After a picnic lunch, return to Jinka.
Day 7: Jinka – Yabello (Meals: B, L)
Drive to Yabello, visiting the colorful Afer market where you will see the Tsemay, Bennaand, and perhaps the Ari tribes. En route, visit a village of the Oromo Borena people.
Day 8: Yabello – Yergalem (Meals: B, D)
Drive from Yabello to Yergalem over the beautiful Sidamo mountain through fruit and coffee plantations.
Day 9: Yergalem – Addis Ababa (Meals: B, L, D)
Drive to Awassa and visit the fish market. Then drive to Addis Ababa passing the Great Rift Valley lakes. In the evening we will have a farewell diner party in one of the traditional Ethiopian restaurants with dancers from different ethnic groups. Transfer to Bole International Airport for your departure.

Good to Know:
28 (twenty eight) days or more before the tour commencement date – forfeiture of deposit.
Less than 28 (twenty eight) days before the tour commencement date – forfeiture of 100% (one hundred percent) of the tour price.
Illness or absenteeism:
In the event of a tour member's withdrawal from a tour after commencement for reasons of illness, he/she should obtain a medical certificate in support of any insurance claim. The tour operator shall not be liable to make any refunds for absence from a tour.
Other than for the reason stated above and in the event there of, the tour operator shall in its exclusive discretion consider and take into account any refund, calculated as stated above.
In the event of the tour member failure to give notice of cancellation of a tour, will result in forfeit of any monies been paid to tour operator.
