From March 1938 until April 1945 Vienna was part of Hitler's German Empire. Hitler called Vienna "the Pearl of the Reich", that needs a proper frame. But at the end of his reign a third of the City was destroyed and many thousand dead. Only among the Viennese jewish population about 70000 got murdered. How was life in Vienna during this time? What are still the visible remains of the Nazi reign in Vienna? Who were the people that supported the Nazis? Who didn't? If you are interested in getting an answer to these questions or if you are just generally interested in history, then this is the tour for you. See the historic balcony, from which Hitler gave his famous speech announcing the annexation of Austria to Nazi-Germany, learn about the treatment of the jewish population in the early days of the Nazi reign and maybe get a slight idea of what it was like during these times. We start at the Heldenplatz. The sight of Hitler's announcement of the annexation of Austria to Nazi-Germany. We then walk through the old imperial Palace, the Hofburg, to the Kohlmarkt. Here we see the history of some of the houses there, whose owner were victims of the so called "aryanization", the praxis that basically allowed the stealing of jewish businesses. On the square Am Hof we will see the memorial to the firemen, who were executed for resisting the nazi terror and then further on the square Judenplatz we will see the memorial monument to the holocaust in Vienna. Down by the danube chanell we will see a squsre that was crated after the hotel metropole was destroyed at the end of world war 2. Infamous for having been Vienna's GESTAPO headquarters. Now a monunet remains. On the square Hoher Markt we can still clearly see the damages World War 2 did to Vienna before we head towards Saint Stephens Cathedral, on which there are more reminders of the War and the Nazi Regime, as one might think. Nearby we will see the building, from which the Nazis Organized the old town of Vienna before we head towards the Albertina, where we will end the tour at the main monument against war and fascism in Vienna.

A lot of people that come to visit Vienna are only looking for the imperial buidlings and the stories of kings and emperors and tend to miss all this old alleys and myths, that come with them, which always fascinated me already from a very young age. ·We start the tour at the very center of Vienna with its 900 year old Saint Stephen's Cathedral, that still marks the very center of Vienna to this day. ·We'll then stroll along the Graben, the former moat of the roman city wall, now most lively street, where we will see the plague column in its center. ·Via Bräunerstraße we will then walk up to the old imperial palace, the Hofburg, seeing its inner yards and countless reminders to the imperial past. ·Via Saint Michaels Square we will go down the Kohlmarkt, passing by the famous Cafe Demel until we reach the Kurrentgasse, one of the last remaining barogue streets in Vienna. ·Walking through Judenplatz and Hoher Markt we will then explore the old medieval center of Vienna. ·At Saint Ruperts square we will see the oldest still standing church in Vienna but also one of the most lively areas of the city to this day. ·Going through the old "Greek Quarter" we will then sneak through some typical "through houses" back to Saint Stephens Cathedral.
